Totally agree.

AFC has been very much the poor relation of this World Cup.....

Nine qualifiers, one of football's biggest opportunities and the AFC has squandered it. While some of the other 'developing confederations' have had quite a few surprises and some that have thrived, Asia has delivered little more than disappointing football and a brutal reminder of how far it still trails the world's best.

And the result is a massive tournament-wide reality check!
 
According to the BBC, Scotland have a 0.07% chance of getting into the 3rd place qualifying 8.....

Scotland with 2 very tough opponents and a minnow. A different group would've been doable. Alternate history with these groups is fun. Imagine if Ireland had made group A.

Switch Scotland with Egypt and they're in with a chance.

Most of the Asian teams mainly have players play in Asia but they also have a mentality problem as well which they cant seem to shake off.
 
If Iran makes it, it’s about par for AFC. If Korea makes it as well, it’s a solid showing.

The AFC always only had 4-5 teams at the World Cup. This time they might have 4 in the 32 as well. This was all that could be hoped for. Only 4 sides had a realistic chance of advancing from the group and they may still get there. Were people really expecting Uzbekistan and Qatar to get out of the group? That was never going to happen lol.

Certainly not that group for Uzbekistan but they were pot 3. Give them NZ, Austria, Canada and there's a chance. They faced the wrath of Portugal. Qatar were lucky and just stupid all the time.

I agree, they’re also investing in infrastructure too. Great way to put them on the map. It’s also great for their economy which is still recovering from the Soviet era.
