- first one.. harsh, but technically correct - first contact is with the arms, so probably deemed as 'not a challenge on the ball' so DOGSO not downgraded from red like it normally would be. Just realised where I copied this from my work chat, it's not the challenge on the ball that downgraded it, it was that it was out of the box. If that was in the box, and given as a penalty, probably would have been a yellow. Same note for the Mexico red card.
- second one - not actually shown in the extended highlights? Was that one given by VAR? Assuming it was the hand to the throat/head that was given a yellow initially? - Again adding to this after I copied from my work chat, I do remember seeing online this morning a clip from a different foul, where there was a coming together, but a second action with the arm was a clear red (if that indeed was the red I'm supposed to be seeing)
- That last Mexico one is harsh to me - he's played at the ball, and then direction to me looks like it's heading away from goal, so should still be a yellow - but referee must have decided he was going to be one-on-one with the keeper.
