FIFA Series Australia (March 2026)

If Curacao are saying that they will play Australia and China, hopefully that rules out China as an opponent for us, given that supposedly 4 countries will be taking part with two matchdays and two games per matchday. Hopefully the fourth country has a bit more pedigree than China - a reasonable European country would be good although I think it unlikely that an already qualified Euro country would travel here. Greece, Hungary, Serbia?

We approached Greenland but apparently playing Australia in a friendly is a poisoned chalice these days... Every other country would be scared of being invaded by Trump ... Who was the last friendly we played before Venezuela and Columbia?

CONFIRMED: Cameroon, Curaçao and China PR will head to Australia to compete in the FIFA Series 2026™ this March 🙌

The CommBank #Socceroos will take on two of these nations in a final hit out on home soil before the FIFA World Cup 2026™ 🇦🇺

So the other teams will play each other too? A bit more football on offer. Grouped friendlies may be a more viable thing in the future. Some teams have played a small round robin in Florida recently.

honestly I'd rather not lock them in, let them choose when their ready, give them a taste and let them come to us, friendlies are perfect for that
While I want loyal players I'm not sure about our own toying with them. The modern player is mostly fickle and Australia's international case requires a lot of travel and a big commitment that some younger players may question it.

I recall some ex national team players saying they were always available but later on in their career they saw the commitments as a challenge to maintaining good health for their club career.

Not announced - but I'm sure CommBank Stadium commitments for the Women's Asian Cup are over by then. Surely the CommBank Socceroos will play at the CommBank Stadium
