Logistics, tickets, stadiums, general news etc about the World Cup.

If there's already a thread going somewhere for general information link it and I'll ask a mod to delete the thread.

How's these pricks?

Have a crack down the article of how little they've allocated the $60 tickets they've spruiked as 'affordable'. Green is Cat 4. CUNCE.

If I was PM for a day on my list of things to do would be to ban 'dynamic pricing'. One of the filthiest aspects of capitalism. (And it's coming to a supermarket near you mark my words.)

Fucking hate dynamic pricing too

I think this thread is OK? Only one I've seen that's "General" is one specific on the seedings/draw

Ideal thread for everyone to chat away during other group matches. There'll be a lot!

Post draw we may have some kind of prediction or analysis thread but the world cup has a vast array of topics.

I really worry about dynamic pricing at supermarkets. Basically the consumer protection agency gets swindled by the argument that low demand items will be way affordable, balancing the overall cost, yeah right!

You can imagine sensors and a linked system where the price will jack up the moment you get to the checkout.

It depends on which country's regulators will put a stop to it. Germany I think so to a certain degree. Australia, I'd like to think so but I don't know enough.

Reckon it'll be a bit like Brazil with empty seats or a late ticket price drop to get people in? I find a lot of the stadiums aren't the best for viewing football. MetLife is a horrible place to get to. They'll hopefully have a much bigger organisation but buses from Manhattan only carry so many people.

There are direct trains from Manhattan to Secaucus Junction which is essentially Lidcombe and then you switch to the stadium service. I don't know the station layout but surely they have direct services every 10min from Penn. When I went we were actually a bit further down for breakfast and went across to Hoboken on Path and then all the way from there. That actually felt better.

Regards supermarkets I see the pricks raising prices from 5pm to about 7pm when people are making their way home from work and need stuff for dinner.

It needs to be outlawed ASAP.

Did you read in the article that FIFA have removed the face value resale and now you can put them up for whatever price you want AND they take a 15% cut from the seller and the buyer. 30% from every resale ticket. Cunts.

Its becoming a world where if you're not super well off then fuck you.

I got through on the visa presale, my time to buy was last night. Every single AFC team "TST" ticket is on sale on the FIFA website except Australia - why? Because FA went and put it behind a paywall for a cash grab! Absolute garbage.

Yep, FIFA doing that borders on criminal behaviour, in my opinion.

At least you got selected on the visa presale, I’ve heard zip.
So what do you mean that FA put it behind a paywall, can you only access them if you pay an additional charge to get to them?

Yep.

This was sent to me today from a bloke I met in Qatar asking me whether I thought it was worth it. (Buggered if I know I told him.)

Oh FFS it's just added more money along a 'value' chain when there is no added value. This is what's happened in a lot of countries with administrative services. 10 steps instead of 2 to build a garden wall nowadays with everyone changing a fee for jack all.

Norway or Japan to go very far?
I'd like Japan to make it past the round of 16 but not sure whether Norway will go very far given that they're mostly reliant on Erling Haaland to score the vast majority of their goals and depending on how the draw pans out they may get a tough group and barely make it into the knockouts.

Draw on Friday December 5 at 12pm Washington time so that's 6pm CET and 4am for Sydney.

Don't agree with the expansion but my god there are some arrogant german prats on socials attacking the minnows who've qualified on footballing terms.

Imagine the fallout in Costa Rica and Honduras right now?

If you are brave enough remind those German fans that they have failed to get out of their group at the last 2 World Cups so hopefully those same minnows give them a better chance of avoiding a highly embarrassing hat-trick.

Seriously though - for the top-seeded nations the World Cup groups may seem like a bore, and there are plenty of fans from several counties suggesting the same on social media - so they should just treat that as a series of warmups for the "competition proper" commencing in the Round of 32.

Say what we will about FIFA’s..selective sense of ethics as an organisation, but at least thank fvck it is no longer run by people with the myopic outlook of those Eurosnob dummkopfs.

If ⚽️ had been continuously run by those types for the past 70+ years…it’d have been truly lucky to retain a greater global foothold than 🏏 or 🏉 Union.

Costa Rica fans would be totally bummed. Honduras fans would be dirty that rivals Guatamala conceded an own goal in injury time that Suriname needed to knock Honduras out, but Honduras would have been hopeful of qualifying directly prior to the last match day and after failing to score in 2 November WCQ's only had themselves to blame.

No doubt Germany has a proud history but they harp on about these small teams getting in but their heart tops anything the German team has shown the past two world cups. Infighting, politics and a refusal to respect their opponents cost them dearly.
