FIFA 2026 WC - general

Tyler Fletcher has been added to the Scotland playing list for their World Cup campaign as a replacement for the injured Billy Gilmour after making his international debut at the half of their friendly against Curacao.

Maya Yoshida subbed off after 14mins against Iceland and while being named in the provisional Japan squad, I have a sneaking suspicion this is a ceremonial farewell? Don't have info if he's been injured but after no call ups for some time he's probably not going to the tournament.

Looks like it - he's not in the final squad either

It would have been a ceremonial farewell for Maya Yoshida during Japan's friendly against Iceland but also they want to rest Daichi Kamada ahead of their World Cup campaign given that he played in the Conference League final with Crystal Palace only a couple of days prior.

Czech Republic ran out 2-1 winners over Kosovo in their first of two pre-World Cup friendlies courtesy of goals to Tomas Ladra in the 11th minute and Adam Hlozek in the 31st minute of the match, with Lindon Emerllahu scoring the only goal of the game for Kosovo in the 79th minute.

Fascinating look at how a robust Iceland side fared Japan away. Japan's goal really similar to Mexico's. bounce inside of post an across and in.

I think people may be underestimating the support the American nations will have at the tournament. A lot live there already.

Maybe - but a lot of California Mexicans went to the Rose Bowl today and may well go to Mexico where some of the prices are less I believe that the USA tickets. But I can imagine the US games will be full of corporates and event goers.

I think Qatar are going to get thrashed at the world cup.

Of course Qatar are going to get thrashed at the World Cup and will finish bottom of their group but with the expanded format they should at least avoid the ignominy of finishing with the wooden spoon again.
