FIFA 2026 WC - general

Might get some heat on here, but the blame shouldn't be on Trump or his inner circle. They are within their rights to approach FIFA (Infantino) about privatising/getting a slice of the pie. They're business people and they view everything through that lens (as well as power I guess these days).

This whole saga lies squarely with Infantino and anyone at FIFA entertaining the idea of carving off a slice of hallowed ground.

UEFA and ideally 1 or 2 other powerful confeds must unite to kick this creatin to the kerb.

UEFA will not be the good guys here. They will just be angling for more pie.

These fucking idiots in the USA genuinely believe people like paying more and have a song and dance and cuts to celebrities at matches because it makes it an event.

I think we all see its Infanculo/FIFA who need to get reeled in - more so hope enough pressure is applied and he's punted out but he sure has created a shield around him.
Interesting recent read below.

He's applying pressure to have this approved by Sept 19 by all Federations.
Dangling $'s naturally.
FIFA president Gianni Infanculo set a Sept. 19 deadline on Wednesday for the 211 member federations to approve his proposed private investment plan, which would give each association access to up to $40 million in funding........
Too funny this :
Infantino set out the "singular and unique funding opportunity" in a letter detailing why he wants to create a $20 billion FIFA subsidiary -- 20% owned by private investors -- that would run the football body's competitions and events such as World Cups and Club World Cups.

The proposal is backed by Thrive Capital, the investment firm founded by Joshua Kushner. Joshua Kushner is the brother of Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"It is my duty and responsibility as FIFA president to present such game-changing opportunities to you, our members," Infantino wrote in the letter seen by The Associated Press.

Infanculo works like a swiss watch perfectly - great salesman no doubt about it - but its easy sell when dangling $'s as incentives.
Some may call it bribes :)

This is all so sad. We just saw the World cup & fully understand why this is the greatest sport in the world.
We also saw that Australia is a strong football nation, we just have poor administration & too many agenda driven people, we see how this damages football in this country & now we seeing at a global level.
They have no bounds, they taking this game away from us, first they have Qatar, then allowing Oil money, American hedge fund money & even tried Russian & Chinese monies, the Super league, the Hydration break & now FIFA wants to sell the world cup to people who don't care about football but just want to make money. SO SAD!!!!
