Rodri was around 40M going to city and he grew his game there was right up there before winning ballon though.
Yes others have to prove their worth but they are beginning the ride.

Yes we have been tops in through Klopps period been a disaster in quick time.
Fancy spending over 400M for flops !
Wirtz I mentioned bout him before.
I would even consider shifting him and Isak Jan window take the hit IF they don’t stand up.
Kerkez as well might I add.

Spurs would bite your hand off for Isaak, at any price. They've proven to be big spenders now. Maybe De Zerbi can sell him the dream :)

I did hear a rumour Spurs have already enquired with Liverpool ready to sell after intervention from new co-owner Jeff Bezos

Both Wirtz and Isak available for a joint £120m with free delivery if Spurs join Amazon Prime!

Arriving Friday. Free returns if they don’t settle in.

Though they have been chasing Gakpo for weeks far better online price :)

Unfortunately Gakpo’s transfer listing got rejected by Amazon.

ā€œSorry, this item does not meet our quality standards for Premier League attackers.ā€

eBay is probably his only option now....

Used, some wear, still works, occasionally, collection only from Anfield, no returns.

Better than what we've got currently. After the World Cup he had I'd take him. I also suggested EstƩban Lepaul, top scorer in Ligue 1 yet overlooked because he's not a PSG player.

You've been banging on about Lepaul for a while now and I totally 100% agree with you.....

I think he's a fantastic striker. And considering that the Premier League has been shopping in France a lot lately you're thinking why he isn't on the radar of more clubs....

Maybe they are getting enquiries at Rennes but they don't want or have to sell.

Rennes are owned by the Pinault family who are one of the richest families in France and recently injected €100m+ into the club

I think he suffers from being at a club that isn’t PSG. French football has a bad rep in England (especially among Big Six fans) because it’s lower in quality other than PSG. What makes it worse is that Rennes finished sixth in Ligue 1, which is a good finish (they qualified for the Europa League), but realistically if they were in the Premier League they would be midtable, probably a ā€œsleeper hitā€ if they qualified for Europe (think Sunderland but with less money spent and nicer weather).

Now, obviously not every EPL player or coach comes from top teams, in fact most don’t. However, fans of Big Six clubs prefer that the clubs focus on poaching players and teams from other top teams. I’ve said on here before for example that Spurs fans were suggesting we get Jürgen Klopp, Xabi Alonso, Xavi or Zinedine Zidane after Thomas Frank was sacked, even though we were battling relegation. To give a player example, I’ve heard some people suggesting that Spurs should ignore the Serie A barring the absolute superstars because the quality isn’t good enough, based on the failure of Radu Drăgușin and being unimpressed that we were linked with Rafael LeĆ£o (and this was before he made that sexist-sounding Insta story, but after his temper tantrums against Lazio and Chile). On the other hand, fans of smaller clubs appreciate anyone they can get which is why they shop so much for French players that don’t always make the Bleus squad.

Personally though, I don’t mind where the player came from so long as they’re good enough. And as you said, I would love to have a striker like him at Spurs, especially since he’s scored multiple goals against PSG. He’s on Man City’s raider but realistically he would be a backup there, so if he wants to make the Euros squad for France his best option is to play higher than Ligue 1 but where he’d still start games. He’s better than Richarlison and Dom Solanke so Spurs is a great fit.

Manchester City have been one of the most consistent Premier League buyers from Ligue 1 for years including from clubs that aren't PSG.....

Jeremy Doku who cane from Rennes, Rayan Cherji from OL and this week Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille for a cool €100m....

Liverppol recently bought Jeremy Jacquet also from Rennes

Chelsea have bought numerous players from non-PSG clubs like Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi from Monaco and Malo Gusto from OL.

Arsenal bought William Saliba from St. Etienne and Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.

Man Utd bought Leny Yoro from Lille

So.while the fans might not rate Ligue 1 much, if the scouting departments at the big spending EPL sides like them and the price/role works, the ā€œFrench mid-table stigmaā€ most certainly is not a blocker!

Yeah those are good points but usually they go for players that won awards. He was absolutely robbed, but EstĆ©ban Lepaul didn’t even make TOTS, nor did he get any Ligue 1 awards. Clearly the awards have PSG bias, since logically he’s the only option for the best striker as he scored the most goals (and for a worse team).

In saying that, scouting departments are much smarter than online fans. So you’re right that the scouts know that France has talents and that not all of them are PSG players. However, fans seem to have backlash whenever Ligue 1 players are linked. Maybe the view is different offline and outside the Prem though.

Fans are usually defined by two types....

The prestige crowd.....They only get excited by big names from PSG, top La Liga, Serie A or Bundesliga clubs, or players who’ve won awards.

The numbers crowd....They read about the players strengths, care about goals, stats, physical profile and whether the player actually starts and produces. The league or fancy club name matters less to them.

I feel like the latter category is me but also I feel like they’re more prominent in the smaller clubs and offline.
I just seen on the Athletic that Omar Marmoush is having a medical at Spurs....

Initially a loan deal!
Great move!!!! Wonder if we can keep him beyond a loan!!

Yeah I think it’s an obligation to buy deal.

Don’t really understand those deals other than delaying the inevitable.

Would suck if he has a crap season though, unless there’s a performance clause in the obligation section.
