English Premier League 🦁

Massive night so far with West Ham leading Fulham and Forest with two equalisers City away.

I think Leeds are going to get bitten. Silly and wasteful.

The gap Newcastle have looks large enough but an implosion and ascendency at the bottom can see the gap narrow bringing nervous times. Improbable though.

We’re actually now only one point off going down albeit with a game in hand.

Next games (all times are in AEDT):
  • Palace at home (7:00am tomorrow)
  • AtlĆ©tico away (7:00am next Wednesday)
  • Liverpool away (3:30am Monday after next)
  • AtlĆ©tico at home (7:00am Thursday after next)
  • Forest at home (1:15am two Mondays after next)
If we lose to Palace our fate could very well be decided against Forest on 23 March. After the international break West Ham have Wolves so if we don’t get any more points by then we could be in 18th (if West Ham beat Wolves).

But hey, we aren’t the only big team in trouble. In the Serie A, Fiorentina are in a lot of trouble too. Similarly they could also play European football from the second tier, in their case Europa League from the Serie B and in our case Champions League from the Championship.

The panic can really come for Spurs if they lose their 6 pointers and the others will all have wind in their sails.

Time for Spurs to chase the light at the end of the tunnel and get a few wins going.

17th is 17th, it doesn't matter how many points clear you are; you are still 17th. BTW you can't finish 17th and be relegated.
I would still much rather finish 17th but 12 points above relegation AND with a trophy AND European football despite major defensive injuries than finish 16th and a point above going down with no trophy or European football.

For me trophies come first, then European football, then league position. For example last season Sydney FC would have had a better season if we won the ACL2.

Winning ACL2, would have just been papering over the cracks, the same with Spurs. The league is your bread and butter.Domestic cups you only play 4 or 5 games, so not comparable to a 38 game season, whit is the real test of how good you really are.
A fine example is Wigan winning the 2013 FA cup final and getting relegated, that ended up costing them hundreds of millions of pounds and a slow dive into league 1, soon to be league 2.

We won a EUROPEAN cup though, not a domestic cup. We were one of just four of the 20 Premier League teams to win a trophy.

None of the EPL big boys give a monkeys about the Europa. Overall the season was one of failure for Spurs and the rotund one.
I’m sure they would if they were in the competition (which one of them will be). Chelsea care about their Club World Cup and Conference League. Man United wanted to desperately win the Europa League to save their season.

I would understand thinking that way if your team can’t win a trophy though.
