CCM under APL control

I would say Matt Simon was given the task of telling people. Not behind the chaos.
wow mate - really sorry for you dedicated CCM supporters despite me not into the APL I always keep tabs on the game there.
Matt Simon, not the reason of the debacle but the messenger, can imagine how so many parents and kids must be feeling right now.

On another note this once again is another big blow to the game as a whole.
patj, didn't Charlesworth have interested buyers sometime back and knocked offer/s back over the years ?
For its been well known he has been wanting out for years if I recall right.
Of recent Pell, what drove him away I can't recall ? even though it went pear shaped what if he ended up having complete control agreeing to a deal with Charlesworth long before the issues ? is it a case of what could have been ?

Peil did not have the money. Never did. That's why Canberra rejected him. Much greater costs elsewhere. Charlesworth was happy for him to fund the football side. He put money into the squad but also did a fire sale twice - including the Academy. Monty was chosen by Mike, Meikelcamp and Simon. Mark Jackson was recommended by Monty.

Peil, after gutting the club blamed the cutting of the grant money. but he was never going to be the answer. In fact he probably got in the way of some real investors - but he put money in without ever owning anything.

As for the Academy Ben Cahn and then Monty made it probably the best in Australia, what remains is nothing like that.

Certainly dark clouds hanging over the club.Peil's involvement was strange-I could never quite grasp how much say he had though he did put money into the football sides ( men and women) but gutted the Academy and admin staff.Charlesworth stepped back but still owns the training site at Tuggerah so I don't think that is included in the liquidation but may be part of any future sale.If anyone knows more about that part it would good to know.
The APL needs Mariners to survive for the next media deal which is the light shining through those dark clouds and the new APL CEO will want to sell the club before negotiations for that deal are finalised. It will be a bargain but as a CCM fan I will be happy as long as Hanlin and Haliti are out of the picture.I am not sure about QPR and whoever is partnered with them but more should come to light.
What arsehole said Matt Simon was behind the debacle? He is a stroppy character but bleeds yellow and blue and would be heartbroken if he thought the club was finished.

Some hope for the Academy

CCM Academy training will be cancelled for this week while APL works swiftly through the next steps.
APL has indicated its intention to work with the liquidator to support the continued operation of the CCM Academy and expects to be in a position to provide further information next week.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Further updates will be shared as soon as they are available.
Regards,
The Central Coast Mariners

touch wood the academy can operate soon depends what the Liquidator agrees with or shuffles the $'s owed right ?

patj, any news what has happenned to Charlesworth ? how is he looked upon after all this time ?

vince rugari tweeted a vague put positive rumour about the academy about 5 minutes ago

There is a lot of positives happening behinds the scenes it looks like. So the club wont fold and should be business as usual cum 4 months time?

Still - pretty murky. The guy has kept the club going, at times single handedly from a money point of view since the GFC. He doesn't have the deep pockets of billionaires like Lowy or Lederer and the Coast doesn't have the big money appeal of the Sydney and Melbourne clubs. But he kept the club afloat for that time, in spite of Council obstructionism. Many will thank him for that. Others are less forgiving - but he has put his hand into his pocket and I think when the licence was pulled was the longest serving owner in the League. I think from afar he looks like a pantomime villain, but on the Coast it is a bit more nuanced and waiting for the real story to emerge.

From what’s been reported, CCM will be sold by the end of the month.

Great news if true but as we’ve seen with the Jets, this doesn’t always come to fruition

Not a chance of a full house regularly. People who moved here years ago watch their Sydney team as a one off. Northern Eagles took all their home games to Brookvale in their last season because of poor crowds. The Coast is a football area not a league area.
Problem was people saw the Northern Eagles as Manly in drag and they were right as the Norths half of that merger had been whiteanted in the end.

Coast people wanted a Coast team not Manly in disguise.

and us Eagle supporters never wanted our club there in the first place, glad it fell to pieces.
IF anything Bears could have gained some traction from the northshore line supporters to Gosford but never had a chance.
Give me brooky anyday purely cause of its proximity in sydney life.

patj, yer I got to say Charlesworth at least dug in for a long time, set up a great academy and the club did prosper despite the money shortfalls.
Talking nrl in some ways the NRL failures setting up a club at gosford fell into CCM's laps over time.

I don't want to kick Central Coast, whilst they are down, but the timing of this post by this transit YouTuber is darkly humourous!

Can’t disagree on that vid - well researched actually.

I had no idea how awful the place was. I really thought it was some sort of seaside paradise.

And not ONE mention that there is a ‘major’ football code represented there. They kept showing the ground, and just ignored it!

The residents are not known as the sea bogans for nothing. It is really only a Western Sydney overspill area.
