Manly doing a number on Dragons overtaken us on the table mathematically they can still make it .
We need to go all out tonight take chances tackle our hearts out :
 
Geee Panthers got away with a lot there .
Playing rough . Sutton letting them getting away their tactics .
We held out well they had a load of possession.
 
Hopefully we have taken some juice out of the Panthers.

Happy with the performance and effort.
 
We learned where we need to get better.

Not unhappy with the season, just a learning process.

We need to improve our kicking gane, aside from Cleary's kicks, the teams were evenly matched.

Galvin and Hayward made a lot if progress.

We need a specalist half to replace Critter or his kicking needs to get better.

Pretty good game from Tracey, but we need a better fullback.

We were going to hit a must win game sooner or later.
 
Panthers were up for this game big time. I knew Ithat was going to happen and I'm sure our team knew that was going to happen but what do you do?
They have a lot of strike power something that we lack big time and we have to work it out. Critter not a full-time number six he got caught out a bit tonight also Gallvin definitely not a seven. He tries hard but he's not a seven. We definitely need to fix up the halves position.
 
The game was what I expected.
I still hoped that we could win, but with Penrith playing that well, we would have needed to be close to pefect.

I prefer Critter in the halves to Burto.
Gavin and Hayward did some really good plays.
Next season we might have Woods and Conti as halves options.
I don't remember a half back with 30 games of NRL experience being better than Galvin, Joey Johns probably was.

Anyway, I atill think Galvin will enventually ve a lock.
Cleary has way more experence kicking in the NRL than Galvin and Critter.

This season should have taught the coach and players that banking early season wins is important.

We need to understand how and why we lost too many early seaaon games.

We are not far off being good enough to win a comp. Probably 3-4 players and Sitlii was one if them.

I still think the 2026 Dogs squad is the best squad we have had for 10 years.

We have turned the corner, but basement to the penthouse is a long journey.

We were pretty much chasing our tails all year. I think there's only after the storm game we were in the top eight for one week. I can't recall being the top eight at all all year and you're right. You got to win all the early games like we did last year to have any chance?
Would like to finish off the season with a big win against the Broncos, hopefully
 
There was always a danger of losing a game like that against a team like Penrith.

Same playing a team like that in a semi, that game is the closest we can get to semi experience without playing in the semis.

We were beaten by a very good team and they played one of their better games.

In the last 12 weeks we have matched up pretty well against the Warriors, Roosters and Panthers, the footy we played would have beaten most other sides. But to consistently beat those better sides, we need to be better.

Edwards was another key difference at the start of the game and for most of the game.

While he is a good player Tuala is a very good centre and an average winger. The injury to Jethro and the suspension of Sua also cost us.

Penrith also had a few out, Cleary and Edwards were the key difference.

To win a comp we need to be a team that wins games like that against top teams when it counts. We are building towards that, and are closer than we have been in the last 12 years.

We need the Tigers to beat the Cows, otherwise the Broncos game is a dead rubber and both teams will stuggle to get up for it.

If it is a dead rubber give leaving players like Curran and Hopoi a game, give some young players like Conti and Spinks a game, throw the ball around and have fun,

Do any Dogs fans think we would have beaten the Panthers with Marhoney and Sexton?

IMO Galvin was our best player, and Hayward was our second best player. Most of our better attack came off those 2 guys.

All of the forwards tried hard, but were shaded by the Penrith pack.

The Panthers developed Cleary and Edwards, they didn't buy them.

We have some promising young halves and fullbacks at the club.

If we persist with Critter at 5/8, that is only to buy time for a young guy to come in.

Another off season working on his game will help, he had a bad game, but that is probably his first time playing in the halves under that amount of pressure.

Our games against the Roosters and Panthers would have beaten most of the other teams, and in both games a bit better kick defusal, and scramble to help the catcher, might have made a difference.

Panthers edged us on the early intensity and that drained our energy levels which showed at times in the 2nd half.

The key to winning in 2027 is improving our attack, our defensive intensity can beat any side, but we can't back that up week after week.

If we simply look at attacking structures and passing the ball, we actually had more attack than Penrith. Kicking game and bomb defusal including assisting scramble are things to work on for 2027.

Build on the attack and defence we have, we don't need new systems.

Aside from Critter at 5/8, I would definately try Woods.

I would also try Hayward starting at 5/8 and Lussick starting at hooker.

Woods could be off the bench initially with Critter or Hayward starting,

I would also try Conti off the bench replacing Galvin on the right with Galvin moving to lock.

Conti on the right and Galvin on the left might also work.

Dykes is an option for 5/8 and fullback, his attack has looked good in patches, his defence might not be good enough at present.

If Tracey is out for any reason, we need to try a young fullback.

What we need to do and what we need to work on for 2027 is fairly obvious.

Missing the semis may mean that we start 2027 in better shape,

I am hoping the Tigers win, so we have something to play for next game.

Besides, the Cows are rubbish, they don't belong in the semis.
 
First, we have to beat the Broncos. I don't know are the boys up to it. The Panthers game might've taken everything out of them.
