Breaking Barriers - web series đŸ“ș

My “bigoted”, “delusional”, “stupid thinking”.
And from your mate: “xenophobic”, “lame arse”, “vague little hateful world”, “Malaka”.

I’ll repeat my comment:

This is a forum for conversation, ideas, and debate.
So why does an intelligent man (no sarcasm at all there), have to resort to name calling and insults?

We’re all here on this forum because we all love football.

I don’t see angrily bashing away at a keyboard insulting forum members online as very satisfying or productive way to pass the time, but everyone needs a hobby I guess?
Arent you living in Malaka? OR surrounded by Malakes or something? Din't relaise your location was such a source of shame?

Almost a 3 hour flight from Malaka, malaka. Sabah, used to be called North Borneo. Former Socceroo Scott Ollerenshaw, the “Ginger Maradona”, is Director of Football at Sabah FC.

So like all 'reality' tv shows do they film it then 6 months later actually televise it? Is there a start date ?

The reason is that the sport is called Soccer in this country long before any of the new dawn stopped watching AFL and NRL and it will again long after the return to their boganball pastimes.
The sport was originally called Football in Australia long before 'Soccer' was introduced.

The Wanderers Football Club (1880): Australia’s first official association club was formally established on 19 August 1880 as "The Wanderers" Football Club.

Balgownie Rangers Football Club (1883): The oldest surviving club in Australia still carries "Football Club" as its official suffix.

Wallsend Football Club (1887): One of the earliest clubs in the Newcastle district, it remains known as Wallsend FC.

West Wallsend Football Club (1891): Founded by Scottish miners, it was originally named West Wallsend Athletic FC before becoming the West Wallsend Bluebells FC.

Interesting.. will watch later.
If one has to quote or even mention Flogari (whitewash attempt aside) that many times in one pod then any possible credibility has gone out the window...

Reading between the lines... "we live in a smaller world with internet and accountability blah blah blah" .. and then for good measure dont forget to throw in effnik tension to remind us all that nothing has/will actually change(d)! Same bs in a different bag!

The evil AFL killed off poor team 11 bid... hahaha..... now change the 'F' for a 'P' and you see the reality the rest of us have lived for 2 decades and multiple bids!! But hey, this bloke openly denies it happened to the 'old' clubs so how does one take him seriously when he whinges about the challenges faced by the mainstream saviours....

Thats even if you can get past (without dying of laughter) at the idea that they think they have grass roots / community roots....

TBH I know where you are coming from. But his model will likely benefit a club like SMFC well before his chosen club has a hope in hell.

My blood is boiling after listening to that. The AFL threatening the Team 11 bid. The government worker incorrectly telling FFA that Team 11 is not getting a dollar.

The opportunity of a lifetime lost forever to the sport. I'm glad Matt got this stuff of his chest, I have no doubt it would've been traumatic, hopefully this chat was therapeutic for him. It's bloody scarred me! 😅😭

I wasn't a fan of A1 playing A2. I could definitely understand it from an economic view, but I actually didn't care if we lost derbies for a year or two, so be it, makes us hungrier to get it back.

But what's changed my mind was thinking of it as a replacement for a league cup! And it's actually probably better than a league cup because even in a LC group format (say four groups of four) you would have to play a team from your own league for a third time (maybe more with the knockouts), which is a waste unless the APL want to manufacture another fixture for derbies. And it's better than the minimum of just three matches, you get another eight or more unique opponents. I hope that makes sense, it's late 😮 .

If the idea is sold as integrating a league cup into the league itself, then it might convert a few more sceptics. I think it was my only worry from the concept, but I'm all up for it now. Let's get it on!

Its miles better than the status quo but misses some key benefits of p and r which I'll question Matt on tomorrow (amicably of course)

Do you mean out of A2?
I know it's not perfect but it's a solid foundation that's gets things moving in the right direction. The problem is the hierarchy aren't bothered to change, you have to at least make it appetising for them.
And having a league floor is nothing new. We all know the Japan history, but even the oldest pyramid in the world was closed off after 2, 3, then 4 tiers. England didn't fully open until recently, I think.
Anyway I can't wait for the pod, or are you asking him on X?

IM podding with him tomorrow

To help me prep, do u remember thr reaction to the apl model of a1/a2 on the old 442 forum when it was announced

I think one theme was supporters of grassroots clubs saw it as a competitor to a h&a nst that would crowd out the product, relegating it to a third division (weakening it) only taking the top clubs and making a more pure system more difficult

Do u remember any other reactions

p.s. England had a soft floor below league x until 1987 where a voting system would decide p and r below that floor

I think it gets a lot of the benefits of p and r (but not all) and still reasonably open

Just nodding off, can't recall if I was even on 442 at that time 😅 I found that place not long before it shut down haha. The Vietnamese posts had nothing to do with me I swear!

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Championship becoming the third tier, I reckon that'd mean we're in a great position! Even the first div in England got demoted for PL didn't it? You still have to pass criteria and merit to be promoted from the Championship, like anywhere else in the world. I know you get a bounce in metrics when relegated then promoted, but it's no good to the club if relegation means death, and I think that's a sticking point. I've often thought if they die then they die, but it's just not thoughtful enough. But then I've also thought that relegation might save a club from death by forced cost cutting... who knows how much more they can cut!? So yeah, I have a foot in both camps, but I really like the idea of starting with Matt's world and tweaking leagues as we grow. Surely if we get to 60 teams like J-League then we can introduce relegation from the base like they have.

Could you ask him about Tassie please? He doesn't mention them as an expansion option, I'd like to know his worries there. Is he thinking a South Hobart/Team Tasmania NST type would be better there?

I guess the question is why do we think relegation means death? P and r tends to mean clubs are on the one hand more financially volatile but have a higher survival rate (i know thats counter intuitive)

No matter how bad things get the hope that a pyramid gives keeps things alive
