Bias of the a-league

Purely from an airfare sense or entire costs? Not doubting you. I would image NZ has potentially more flights than Perth.
Flights and accommodation with official partners. It's not complete costs, but it's the big stuff. Perth is nearly triple the cost of a Sydney club. Auckland is more affordable than Perth, and Wellington is inbetween the two for affordability. The only capital city more expensive than Perth would be Darwin!

In the current league, a Sydney club is the cheapest for travel because they have the most clubs in the league (the least travel), and generally affordable. Using them as the baseline, this is how much more expensive it is for a club per region:

Perth is so expensive. Who the hell decided to build a city all the way out there hahaha!?

If everything were equal, i.e. the same number of clubs per region, this would be the affordability scale (Hobart and Canberra included for future comparison):

Of course prices continually fluctuate and this is a guide only.

Contrast with MV who play 5 away games in this period
Melbourne Victory are only getting five games on the road throughout this period because the scheduling is taking Melbourne City's AFC Champions League Elite games into account, bearing in mind that City and Victory both share AAMI Park.

Wellington has never needed a bail out, is one of the best run clubs in the comp for one of the smallest, NZ gave the FA at the time its 8th club. The APL get money from SKYSPORTS NZ for broadcasting rights which no other Aussie club can do. Look at all the expansion clubs so far that have cum into the ALM with small crowds of 2k where as Auckland have around 14k a game and Wellington 7k.
Having NZ teams in the comp is good for the game, its nothing personal its just good business. Also Wellington have produced more Johnny Warren medal winners then any Australian club. (Smeltz, Rojas, Barbar, Devilla, Karishna just to name a few).

Anyway back to the point. It’s bullshit the advantage that Auckland get. They’ll fizzle in a few years too. It will be all for nothing. While our players and local game miss out.

Again, what have they done e for football here? The sky sports figure is what a ffa cup game earns from Cevapi.

Don’t get the pint of ‘which no other a league club can do’ - well obviously, they are in nz.

The a- league sells rights to Europe / US etc, which phoenix could never do unless it was for all our clubs so there’s that.

Say what you want about Auckland having that stretch of home games, and Victory and City with away games.

Even Yoogali didn’t have to travel more than 3 games in a row in NPL - and we know the governing body hates them

Your local game has previously fizzled out, what is your point, apart from hatred?

sounds like the Scottish league! 😎
A league that is still around after 135 years and the most attended in Europe per head of capita. And you are supposed to be the clever one. Back to the basement you go.

well only because its the best place to live hahahah jus jokes , it is a crazy place to live we do feel isolated and really consider one of our best features that we can build a wall as seen in covid lol

I'm kind of torn on this one. I think that these two NZ clubs do add something to the A League but then you have clubs like South Melbourne and Marconi who most people would agree should have been in the competition since day 1 but have been completely ignored by the powers to be.....

If I was a fan of South Melbourne or maybe Marconi I'd be spewing at seeing NZ clubs in an Australian top.tier league while my club was ignored.

I also have sympathy with tsf's assertion that these NZ clubs do get a bit of a helping hand in some respects and in 2 or 3 years Auckland will probably not be flavour of the month anymore.

Again, how did South Melbourne not getting in the A-League have anything to do with Wellington? Have I completely missed some important history here?

Its not Wellingtons fault Sth Melbourne didnt get into the ALM, Stupid decisions from the FA at the time made it happen by putting in Western Unit and the Bulls when there was already a club (Hellas) with its own stadium and fan base and great football history in Australia.
Wellington is not a basket case nore Auckland b ut the expansion clubs have been (all but Auckland).
