Australian transfers 26-27 Summer

I think you’ll find that people also thought that was a bizarre callup.

Overy was also was only called up for friendlies whereas Okon was called up for a WCQ.
Fair enough re the second point. My read was that a lot of people who were critical of POE's call-up were delighted about Overy's call-up, even though anyone who had seen either of them play knew POE was a lot of closer to national team level (and in my view at the time, better than some of the other players in his position) than Overy was.

Hrustic - surely still good enough for lower Eredivisie or Buli 2 team? Otherwise MLS or Japan?

Luongo - time to come home mate

Maty - I’m sure will end up somewhere decent

Silvera - lower champ or League one

Cummings - should be playing in the A-League but could see him in a SE Asian league like Vietnam or Thailand

Kalik - would be a good signing for a top A-League club like City or Victory

Strain - good enough for Championship/League One but really just needs to stay injury free and play

AMB - again needs consistent football. Probably League 1 or Scotland

Francois - A-League or League One

James Johnson wanted to introduce a domestic transfer system to create value for our players before they set off overseas, if only the APL and the rest of the stakeholders didn't have the short sightedness to just to do because you know it helps them make money for them and the sport? Clearly there heads are in the sand and they question how to get better at it.

SFC fans would've seen Paul Okon this year.

Many like me thought, yes good potential, Huge engine, confident on the ball, had it all but lacked some experience & required better decision making.
Maybe a Socceroo squad member for experience, but too early.

However, call it what you want but the coaching staff saw something different, ability to step up when playing with better players, trained well, I don't know.

However, when he got the gig in the 1st game against Turkie, I was surprised & so was many others, he showed what a good player he is, still massive growth, but I for one happy to accept that to think he wasn't ready & proved wrong.

I could see silvera maybe making a move to an MLS team

FC Köln is actively working on re-signing Tunisian midfielder Ellyes Skhiri from Eintracht Frankfurt for the 2026–2027 season. Skhiri previously played for the "Billy Goats" from 2019 to 2023, establishing himself as a key midfield strategist and fan favourite.

On the one hand Okon could learn a lot from this player but he's that ingrained in Köln that he's very much in their good books.

He's the one who tripped over the ref before Duke's goal.
