Australian transfers 25-26 Winter

It's always going to be this sad world of some aging name getting more half interested people to come to a game or two than any local hero or exciting new local kid.

It takes ages and it's a battle ground but people have way too short memories and wavering loyalties as do the players themselves that everyone feels absolutely temporary compared to at least having a core of a team spend a minimum of 4 years together.

I really have no idea how to rate the MLS. Some guys go there and play well it seems, others go there and sit on the bench for no apparent reason. Has anyone watched any of it to give an idea to the standard?
I haven't seen a lot, but the little I've witnessed its general indistinguishable from the aleague. Possibly faster paced, but perhaps the directness of the football just gives that impression.

I admittedly haven't watched enough to give a fair assessment. I do however wonder if it's telling that Christian Benteke was top scorer last season with 23 goals 🤨

I reckon when I watched it in 2013 it was similar level to the a league, its apparently improved a lot which is showing in the transfers

MLS comes across as such a diverse league with players from all over and a decent high intensity level but also a lot of shortcomings on the pitch.

Non play wise a lot of the stadiums and kit badges are top notch.

Football natural selection will generally lead to players finding their level. I know I drank some of the Triantis coolade based on the reports. But we hype certain players, Nisbet is another, then get hit by the reality check when they move to a mediocre league.
Everyone shit on Oniell and wanted Triantis. None of us were actually watching either of them play every week. Now they are both in the same league again, at the same level.

Difference between O'Neill & Triantis is O'Neil is a Socceroo & Triantis wants to play for another country.
I pick O'Neil every time.

Unsure if Nisbet is a good example, the dude is like 5 foot noting.

I will say the basis for the hype has improved compared to a few years ago. At least these guys are generally playing consistently and well.
People might remember the day Ikonomedis and Brad Smith got minutes for Lazio and Liverpool respectively. Misplaced excitement there. But at the time we had nothing else.

Some rumours floating around Marinakis is keen on Ange if his relationship with Nuno doesn't improve.

Get the Greek duo together!

That's just so odd by Triantis. I think some players believe playing in the USA pre world cup could enhance their chances of being picked. Why else did so many of those fringe Australians go there? 'Hey coach pick me, I know the conditions.' It's like the silly notion that had Rogic gone to Qatar, he'd have been acclimatised for the WC.

We won't know now whether Triantis was able to ascend. He really was excellent at Hibs last season.

Nisbet has a bad agent. He's one of our most intelligent footballers.

If Bristol City's Scott Twine were Australian, he'd be so highly regarded for the national team. He's English is is so far down the pecking order but on sheer talent and drive, he's probably better than half of the lazy England national team regulars.

I've always felt international football should be about a star team than team of stars. Australia often does that better than England.
