As a free speech absolutist I'd be pleased to see this whole thing fall in a heap. I think it's all very dangerous to a liberal democracy.

People who massacre other people aren't going to have their minds changed either by gun laws or free speech laws.

Even a liberal democracy needs to have laws against inciting violence mate... Im with you on the freedom of opinion and the right to congregate and protest but NOBODY should be able to stand on the steps of Parliament and chant "lets kill the Jews" or "kill the Muzzies" or whatever.... Actual calls to violence are too far in my view and are rightly considered a crime, all else should be allowed.

Line should be at inciting violence - physical or sexual etc.

if it was a free for all you could have paedos advocating for sex against children etc,,
Yeah but not only violence, There are, and have been for decades, anti discrimination laws in place fro this very thing.. We ignore them in society but its already illegal to vilify anybody.

Having said that maybe less people wouldve been killed if dickwad didnt have 6 guns and only had a knife
I dont know if I 100% agree... a tool is a tool.

Ever since the machete ban I carry a really big screwdriver in the car under my seat, whats the difference?

Of course.

Susan Ley is trying to shore up her leadership by pandering to the Nats and the more right wing members of her party by opposing this legislation. She is just clinging on with Hastie and co trying to unseat her.Meanwhile Josh Frydenberg is lurking in he background hoping to get back into Parliament and become the Libs leader.

What would you do, this goes for every post on here. Don't bitch, tell us what you would do, so we can have a laugh

You’re right. Muz did hysterically demand that parliament come back early to pass these laws and took every opportunity to publicaly proclaim it and sow division at a critical moment in the nation’s history.

And he’s the leader of the party in opposition.

Lest he can do is draft a bill for us.

Mate, IPA is not your friend.

Second of all, not many people want hate speech laws like this. But the zionists/conservatives demanded after Bondi. However, what they really wanted was as law to say 'No criticising Israel'. This was always a stupid can of worms.

This was what the right was after. You should be looking towards them for their hysterical response.

I am sure 99% of people here agree that these laws suck.
