Australian news and politics.

Yeah i get what your saying, but i still think its worth noting and being greatful for the fact we live in a country (well i dont, but you know what i mean) where it is possible for a politician to all change their mind. I lived in usa and it just doesnt seem to happen
Well the liberals have certainly changed their minds. They wanted to water down discrimination laws, and have joshie himself voted against them nearly ten times.

Joshie not only opposed Racial Hatred laws but actively sought to unwind more limited protections in:

I guess some members of our community though deserve to be discriminated against

This is amazing. We have a royal commission in anti semitism but zionists can discriminate like this;

South Australian Jewish leader Norman Schueler told Adelaide’s The Advertisernewspaper on Friday his community had asked that Abdel-Fattah be excluded. “Over a number of festivals there have been certain presenters who have been problematic and we are extremely pleased that they have … for once listened to what we have to say,” he said.

“It was a very wise move and it will improve the cohesiveness of the festival by not having her there,” Schueler said.

lol. So Palestinian writers are ok to be discriminated against. Got it.

Only problematic because they speak up against atrocities.

Just one poll at the moment but one nation draw level with libs....choppy times ahead
Wait until early 2028. This far out polls are meaningless. It is only when voters are forced to make a choice that voters decide whether they want to lodge a protest vote for a party that have limited policies or to vote for a party with a full policy platform.

Now which party is which? Hard to tell at this stage but I wouldn't want to be a LNP candidate in non-urban Queensland in particular.

They should hold an enquiry into the Jewish lobby in Australia to establish just how much influence they have over policy here and the extent of Israel's meddling in Australian society.

Also tsf is correct. A royal commission into racism fullstop would be far better than this bullshit. Waste of time and money.

There'd be fucktons of mussies around Australia right now going 'what the fuck, how about the shit we cop?'.

As for the writers festival in Adelaide. Don't tell me the grubby Jewish lobby isn't all over that. Imagine if a muslim organisation lobbied to stop speakers from, to pick a country, Israel, from speaking? There'd be a huge uproar.

They were directly responsible for Angela Latouff getting sacked from the ABC. Fortunately sanity prevailed and the ABC got it's arse kicked.

Private messages between senior ABC executives were tended in court, with Ms Lattouf's lawyer arguing it showed "pro-Israel" groups had pressured management with coordinated complaints.

In emails tabled to the court, Ms Buttrose told Mr Anderson she was "over" receiving complaints about Ms Lattouf.

The court also heard Ms Buttrose sent additional unprompted personal emails to complainants on the day Ms Lattouf was dismissed, directly informing them of the decision.

The Jewish council of Australia is condemning the removal and now they're all squabbling against themselves. While writing will always have a political edge, there should be events where it's avoided. People are tired of going to something to enjoy themselves and the politics have to come out.

Imagine if the Chelsea flower show was about the environment and climate activism? I'm sure there are stands on sustainability there.

I suggest they have a separate event where they get all the sides up on the panel and they can discuss all the politics they like. Each side should send their best debater? Will they show? Probably not as they're afraid of losing face.

There are real antisemites in our society-neonazis,rabid islamists, and at the extremes of both the right and the left. Then there are the " antisemites" as labelled by Netanyahu and associates who have become vocal since the unbelievable Israeli response in Gaza.Obviously Israel was always going to respond to the October 7 atrocities but it appears to many people that it became weaponised to make sure a Palestinian state would never be a goer.

Understandably Australian Jews are traumatised by the Bondi massacre by the lone wolf gunmen. However the Jewish lobby is over reaching in the case of the Adelaide Writers Festival and the previous successful attempt to muzzle Antoinette Lattouf.I can see that their calls for a Royal Commission had some justification but this was quickly jumped on by the Coalition,Josh Frydenberg, the Murdoch media and our own lovely non racist pollie Pauline Hanson and her toyboy Barnaby Joyce for political ends.Albanese was forced into a corner and has agreed to the RC but really the investigation in to how our security agencies and police forces were asleep is more relevant.Another look at gun laws of course is part of this investigation.

By the time the Commission presents its findings many Australians will have moved on and whether its aim of curbing antisemitism and "antisemitism"is successful is a moot point.

(d) make any other recommendations arising out of your inquiry into the
matters set out in paragraphs (a) to (c) that would contribute to
strengthening social cohesion in Australia and countering the spread
of ideologically and religiously motivated extremism in Australia;

(e) any matter reasonably incidental to a matter referred to in paragraphs
(a) to (d) or that you believe is reasonably relevant to your inquiry.
AND We direct you to make any recommendations arising out of your inquiry

This is the parts the Coalition and Pauline Hanson did not want to see.
Points (a) to (c) were to be part of the Richardson Review (now rolled into the Royal commission). These later points give the Royal Commissioner the ability to look back further than October 7 2023 and look at the root causes of the perceived problems we have with social cohesion in Australia.

However under the Ley Royal Commission it would only look back to October 7 2023. i.e. the Albanese government. Most of the failures occurred before that. The Review was set up to identify failures and fix them. Ley's Royal Commission was a blatant attempt to blame the Albanese government by limiting how far back the Royal Commission could go.

The Royal Commission now addresses both the logistical, communication and operational failure that led to the atrocities on Dec 14 2025 but also now is free to look at the root cause - the allowance of hate speech from extremists from both sides. Something that Josh and Pauline (among others) have been protecting for years.

Out of 2000 apparently anti semitism incidents in Australia, only 13 have met the threshold of law.

Did you know 500 incidents relied on as fact were recorded by one individual

Also the graffiti, etc and caravan hoax was organised crime, the synagogue fire was apparently Iran, so we are left with very little real incidents…..Bondi is Isis etc

From the apparent article on this subject. 'Antisemitism is real, dangerous, and must always be confronted where it occurs. What is being challenged here is the scale, the framing, and the political use of the claim. When slogans replace evidence, the alleged crisis collapses.'

Wow, it's almost as if you could apply it to that other overhyped trend where people were 'uncomfortable being near a white person' or 'I felt their appearance reminded me of Christchurch.'

Just like the word racism, all the others have lost meaning as these terms are on autocue for some and it's frankly ridiculous.

Despite the horrors of the world, neither every moment of the day nor every activity need to be a platform for it.
You're equating the world's worst attrocities with a sustainability tent for old biddies at the chelsea flower show?
