Has played 2 "official competition" games for England U17' s also. UEFA European U17 Championship Qualification in October this year, v Scotland and Lithuania (source Transfermarkt).
If correct, he is now tied to England and needs to change nationality if Australia wants to select him at any level

According to the BBC Sport article in October, on which I assume the information in the Diaspora Football X report was based, his father is Sudanese and his mother Australian and he also has French sporting nationality. Presumably, because England selected and played him in an "official competition" game, he is also, at least, residentially qualified to England.

Id be surprised if he makes a call before the world cup. If he does our inside forward stocks look pretty strong with him, metcalf, mcgree and irankunda. Segecic probably moves down the pecking order which means we can freak out about a different players national loyalties :D
 
Cristian Volpato scored the equaliser for Sassuolo today in their 3–1 comeback win over Fiorentina who are having a catastrophic season (sitting 20th and poised for relegation if their terrible form continues).
 
Forgot to mention but he got POTM too. r/ALeague still don't think he would pick us though and are saying that they either aren't interested in him anymore, don't want him anymore or don't think he'd be a good fit.
 
I'd be curious to see how he fits poppas system

he does play essentially as a narrow winger, quite similar to the role he would have under poppas system. He is very fast so skillful on the counter
he puts a lot of effort in off the ball, but at the moment the quality isn't there in defense which probably has affected his game time, but his attack is eye opening at a very high level for a few years in a row. I would expect him to improve defensively too as he ages

I would say he is probably the equal of mcgree and probably would be our equal best attacking mid if he declared for us

obviously it matters whether he wants to play for us or not

I think Volpato would be a perfect fit for Popovic's system. He plays wide and cuts in at Sassuolo. He'd fit into our inverted wide forward role easily. He also can help link with our undermanned midfield.

Only concern is his defensive quality in 1v1 situations. He is very mobile in the press tho and picks up some 2nd balls

If he decides at this late stage to make himself available for Australia then I wouldn't play him until after the World Cup. If he waits until after the World Cup to declare for us then I wouldn't play him until after the Asian Cup.
