It is a shame that we are going to lose such a promising prospect like Antonio Arena but this should come as a wake-up call for Football Australia to sort out the selection policy especially in terms of locking in those world-class dual internationals early.

At this stage it is just media calling for his inclusion. I seem to remember Volpato being mentioned in a similair list a while ago. Fingers crossed. When Poppa www asked about him he said Football Australia are in constant comms with him. Fingers triple crossed.

What’s the source for this? Is this Italy’s squad for the next international window?

Also remember he’s only locked after three competitive matches or one at a tournament. I.e. if we pick him for the World Cup squad and play him even for a second he’s locked to the Socceroos.

We should offer him a World Cup spot. There's a genuine argument he's good enough now given our lack of depth at centre forward.

Sort of how I felt.

When Craig Johnston said at 17 years old that playing soccer for Australia was like surfing for England.
I still marveled at his achievements.
It was sort of understood, we were in the dark woods in the 70s & early 80s, but that changed in the late 80s & 90s with the likes of Slater, Kewell, Viduka, Okon, Zelich & the GG.
Now I sort of think yeah bugger them not interested.

Happy to be corrected outside of Christian Vieri, big loss, but was born in Italy & Josip Simunic, what other great players have we lost.
