Not sure if the Joeys were invited to compete this cycle but they'll be entering this year's tournament as the defending champions after winning the previous edition in 2024.
Australia has been a member of the ASEAN Football federation since 2013, therefore with auomatic right to compete in ASEAN championships. . The Joeys were invited twice between 2013 and 2006 when we joined the AFC.

4-0 after 38 minutes

Brunei brave to keep us out for 30 minutes after conceding early before conceding a few goals in a flurry

big physical difference between the teams

Some general comments

- we are more dangerous down the right flank than left. Cant remember a chance of note on our left
- Brunei are defending deep in the box inviting shots from distance and fire from crosses

Cambodia ran out 1-0 winners over Brunei in the other group C match to move to the top of the ladder on four points with one win and one draw, but we still have the best for and against so can regain top spot even with a draw against Singapore.

Singapore are minnows to be fair so likely we are rotating the playing list as we don't need a full-strength starting XI.
Football is followed almost religiously in SE Asia yet they’re never any good at it. Even Singapore, which is a developed country and essentially (as I describe it) an Eastern country with Western characteristics, are crap.

The Singapore league is the same standard as NPL Victoria and they have to go through two years of conscription so their development is not as good compared to the Socceroos farm system.
