That was an awfully defended corner at that stage of the game.

Thought we playee quite well but again not good enough. Wonder how long Vidmar gets- not saying it is all his fault by any stretch but it's been quite a few bites of the cherry for him now.
If another CB & everybody just stay there with Paul they wouldn’t have scored

I dislike this pragmatic percentage football, it takes all the flair and creativity out of football, I like to be entertained.
It has had a long time of success playing that way, but teams are starting to go to the quick passing around triangles again and starting to come out on top.

Amazingly it looks like only 2 teams qualify from asia?

In any case I was curious about our youth record in asia and how often we make the final 4. The credentials of the coach make a massive difference

Our boys played well for most of the time.Unlucky to have the first half penalty overturned.Their first goal was a cracker and though Paull did play him on side it was a split second decision he had to make whether to step forward or backwards.Well taken goal by Jovanic and what good lead up play by Drew who had a top game.
Again poor defending at the corner. When Paull missed the header there was a big gap behind him and the Korean player took full advantage.Hammond and Overy had good chances to score in the final minutes.

Have to say our C team did better than expected. Cant help but feel a squad that was close to full strength would go close to winning it

Gypped with the penalty shout against Korea.

Not a supporting arm. Arm up and away from the body. Penalty and YC.

And they VAR'd it. Love to hear the rationale from the boffins.

My refereeing colleagues told me to take a closer look. He's played it onto his own hand which, under the guidance, is not a handball.

We're all in agreement that it's definitely a trip though.

Penalty.

L.A. Olympics only has 12 spots for the men because they’re introducing Flag Football.

That’s ok, I’m the FFA will make the right decision about which coach is best placed to get us into the top 2 in the AFC.
Given the age most national team players are these days, U23 football is becoming redundant. Big nation U20 and U21 all play top 5 football regularly. U20 actually has a world cup.

The Olympic tournament has become something of a novelty and it's good to represent your nation. It's only taken seriously once the medals start to become visible.

There was another pen at the 56 min mark that should have been awarded to Aus too.

A Korean defender shoulder barged an Aussie, (was it Dukuly?), in the back and knocked him flying in the pen box. It was no shoulder to shoulder.

One depressing thing that should be mentioned is south korea might be even more hampered with unavailability than our team. As far as i can tell, few of the team they selected for the tournament have made a professional debut!
