Iraq and China helped us out with a scoreless draw, which puts us in a good position in the group.

Our Group D crosses over with Group C, which could mean we face Korea, Iran or maybe Uzbek. I’m picking Korea to top C, so we want to avoid them. We could end up playing Iran.

However, if we win Group D, we’re likely to face Japan in the semis.

It was pleasing to see the East Asian teams do well in their opening games. Vietnam with a 2-0 win over Jordan is a solid performance (we’d be happy with that), while Japan are clear favourites, thrashing Syria 5-0 and looking verrrry slick, especially their left wing. S.Korea drew against Iran and possibly should’ve won.

They’re all up again tomorrow, Japan should thrash UAE, Korea against Lebanon, Viet against Kyrgyz. Might watch some of the Japan game.

Just creating a career mode shortlist with filter Australian and up to 23 years old. Circati, Irankunda, Segecic, Robertson, Kuol, Matthews, Bennie, Toure. Just mental how much calibre there is and how they're hopefully going to grow.

Really don't know but see his name a lot. Is this Lucas Herrington supposed to be the next Antonio Rüdiger or something?

Seeing Leonard and Bonetig I wouldn't mind try to get them together for a youth team.

Jordan beat Saudi 3:2 in a mix of entertainment and shithousery.

Brisbane really struggling without herrinton, he looks like he could make the big 5 to be honest

Just watching the replay now of Aus v Thailand.

Disappointed we lost 11 v 11 with the Thai send off.

However, I can make an evaluation of Aus players technique on the ball. They are going to have a lot of it.

Some poor team unit/ collective defending by Aus! This can easily be fixed with time on the training ground.

Technique can’t be fixed quickly.

The pundit, Simon Hill, suggested Aus had 10 players who were unavailable due to clubs not releasing them. I’m sure I can think of a lot more!

Clayton Taylor
Esposito
Bozinovski
Iran
Mo Toure
Zane Schreiber
Durakovic
Caputo
Memeti
Garang Kuol
Circati
Johnny Yull
Quintal
Dylan Leonard
Steele
Bos x2
The tall CB from Roar who went to MLS
Hayden Matthews
Grimaldi
Youlley
Okon Jr
Kikiani

Noticed Jed Drew was on bench, who was playing Austrian Bundi.

Heaps of others!

Question: if a player has been selected for the Socceroos, does that disqualify them from being selected in the under 20/23 selections?

Oh my God I'm going to finally see Nathaniel Blair on a football pitch. The guy pops up on my feed and career mode scout all the time. Unicorns are real.

Wondered about Daniel Bouman. Now in Westchester USA.

The Tokyo qualifying squad had some who got a full cap but it's a reminder again that a lot of our U23 will fade away.

After looking at the Thailand game I thought Aus’s major problem was defensive cohesion and organisation - which can be quickly fixed on the training track.

If the problem is technique - it takes years to fix.
