Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

We already know his heart's not in the Socceroos' jersey. For himself to play in a World Cup perhaps but no passion no perform
If we have a decent run at the World Cup with a youngish squad and Italy hasn't said anything by then I can see him wanting to join for 2027. At this stage if he went to the World Cup sends all the wrong signals.

The Celtic 'trainer' as he calls himself must have forgotten the little plastic tactics board he carries around with him....

He didn't bring it out once.
I think trainer is a mistranslation as he's French. In French entraîneur means "coach", but it also means "trainer" (or entraîneuse for a woman as French is a gendered language). I think a few European languages have the same word for "coach" and "trainer" but of course the French don't speak English as well as Northern Europeans.

Great post that. There's definitely a cross-pollination of language consideration at play here. I'm a bit of a Francophile, speak/read French to a degree myself and I have a great fondness for French football so I was a little aware of this quirky difference in terminology.

But my post was more just shining a light on the fact that in British football the term 'manager' is ubiquitously used across the whole game, for the principal of the team, even though there are dozens and dozens of foreign managers working in British football who would normally be referred to as 'coach'....

'Coach' and 'trainer' are specifically defined positions further down the management hierarchy in British football.

For instance the 'trainer' is more the fitness and conditioning guy.

That's why a few eyebrows were raised in the Scottish football media during the previous week when Wilfried Nancy told his press conference he was 'the trainer'...

Probably more to do with the slightly insular nature of the British football media than anything else...

I'm in England so will try cover AAs not a good start last night I feel asleep before rangers vs hibs

Going for a Parmo?
Id recommend the meat pies. Much better than the aussie ones as much as that might ruffle some feathers. The pastry is cooked in pork lard and they manage to get a really crispy pastry with really moist insides full of ale (which you also cant get outside the uk). The rosemary is a much stronger flavour in england too

In australia if the filling is wet the crust is soggy or flaky at best, when the outside is dry so is the inside. Not sure why we cant make it properly given our english heritage in Australia

That's five hours away lol don't think I'll make it there driving from Manchester was hard enough with some of the worst traffic I've seen
No worries, if you do pop round can watch a city game in the morn. I have access
