I like the Overy selection, but I am surprised that if we were to take a punt on a speculative RWB, that it wasn't Bennie that got selected. He has such good playing qualities for that role, has senior experience, and has performed better at youth level, but at U23s not U20s.

Would depend on why he has been selected.
If it is a Kewell selection where he is a generational talent who will be considered for minutes? This isn't Bennie so not really the same thing
Is it for his long term development. Again this isn't really where Bennie is at the moment.

That's why Sapsford should've been picked instead of A Toure - he's been great all season, where just a flash in the pan with Toure. The commentators confirmed during the SFC game, that A Toure wasn't in Popovic's plans but "caught his eye" with the Hattrick last week - never mind that he hasn't done squat for the last 3 years!!! I would've had a look at Peupion before A Toure - at least he's played RB before as well.

I'd say he fits long term development theme with potential (long shot) to make the squad - if he makes a good loan/transfer move in January. But I seem to rate Bennie higher than most.

Bennie was in the same U20 team at the recent U20 World Cup as Overy.

Just to clarify, I believe Waddingham has been out injured for 2 months with a quad injury, and a few more weeks to go. Have seen some talk about him needing to go on loan to get first team football, needs to get out of the medical room and push for minutes at Portsmouth.
 
Awer Mabil's Castellon on BeinSports tomorrow morning at 6:30 AM AEDT. Might see him, started a Copa Del Rey cup game a week or so ago but was an unused sub in their most recent game.

I would be suprised if Waddingham didn't push for bench minutes once he is back fit and firing. They are fairly light on up top Pompey.

For the record Morocco began using VAR in 2019 and Egypt in 2020. I believe there may be other leagues and definitely more leagues looking to implement it soon.

The SPFL didn't start using VAR until 2022.
