17 minutes in volpato sucking in some deep breaths. Wonder if he is 100 percent match fit

Gps tracker has him covering the fourth most ground on either team.
Only 4.6 km by half time mind u. I suspect seri a has less running than other leagues?

Awer Mabil came on in the 5th minute for CD Castellon in their 1-0 Copa del Rey first round loss to Antoniano.

Volpato will not play for Italy. It would be a smart move for him to declare for Australia NOW.

TBH I don't think either he or Triantis are missed.
I don't think it is as much about split allegiances for Volpato but more his career in Italy. He grew up here, my guess is if randomly asked where he is from he would say he is Australian. But he has connection to Italy and there is a prestige making it for them that doesn't exist about playing for us (in the football world).

Having said that, my take is the real reason he declined the call up was about establishing a Serie A career. Italian clubs have big squads and a big bench. If you want to waste away, a Serie bench is the place for it. My other impression is there is an even more negative view of traveling to play for Aus in Italian football than other European countries (not sure if that is fair). And a real quick way to find yourself on that long bench, is to fly off to the other side of the world for something they think is a waste of time.

Doesn't appear to be the case for Circati though. Having said that, he has established himself at Parma. If rumours are correct they (Parma) may be looking for a payday by selling him to a bigger club, so they want him to be in their starting eleven.

Sadly, I think this is spot on.
Hopefully once he ages out of the Italian youth setup and moves away from the Italian leagues he'll be better positioned to become involved.

I
I understand Triantis, but Volpato has not align to any country yet.
I don't think this is correct. Volpato is presently tied to Italy because has played for them in official competition at U19 and U21 levels.

If he wants to represent Australia at some point in the future, he will need to request a change of Association to Australia. Similar to what Triantis did when he decided to change Association to Greece.
