Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

How is Volpato going? he is valued so highly on that transfermarket (that crowd intelligence* platform) I'm not hating on Volpato but why? I follow the OS Aussies thread closely and I can't recall any goal involvements of note for what seems an absolute age, let alone goals and he seems to only be getting a few mins here and there (fair / unfair?) but his value is up and up.

2nd point and my own undoing I generally only check the highlights posted here (always goal involvement) and the BBC football so UK bias I lack knowledge of the Italian league(s) So, blast away if I'm out of line it's the only way I'll learn.

He must be doing a lot off the ball or contributing in other ways? But ultimately a striker has to kick on right?

*Questionable but a source I use a lot checking our players standing in the world game.

Currently the Socceroos best player?
He's definitely up there but Circati is first picked for me. Goodwin also when fit - never seems to age.

I think we're about to see the emergence of Balard as a great Socceroo plus Toure and Irankunda look like they're about to explode onto the international scene.

Throw in solid players around them (especially a top #10 - hopefully McGree recovers or Segecic) and we're looking like a pretty decent team.

Shame about Robertson and Triantis.

He makes an impact in every game. Very good creator and beats players 1v1. He would be Australia's best or second best player (behind Circati) if he committed.

Thanks!

Comprehensive!

If Jordy Bos stays this trajectory then he should be looked at by some BIG clubs in the next 12-24 months. And if he doesn’t fetch a fee upwards of £20mil then the only reason is because of his nationality…the kid is a fucking gun!!

Also I’d take Irankunda over Volpato every day of the week!!

It's a good argument.

Circati is bottom of serial b but bos is top ATM of the Dutch league i'd arguing winning trophies is more impressive then being at a relegation scrap

I think volpato is similar quality to mcgree and metcalf, a similar position but a different profile. All three are between big 5 quality and the next level down. Last year volpato didnt get a ton of minutes but had a goal involvement every 100 minutes which is pretty elite

The difference is his age, born 2003, id expect him to have more improvement than metcalf and mcgree

His ceiling i think is roughly bresciano level. A good 6 or so seasons for a mid table seri a club getting a lot of starts when fit

Im also surprised henry was number 1?
It's a fair enough shout. His influence and marketability was massive. Long sleeves and gloves on you were down 1:0 before it began. Aguero has more goals and scored a title winner but I think he had the benefit of a more leaky defensive era. You'd really have to break it down and each faced some dross teams but perhaps the 02-12 era was especially robust at the back, Titus Bramble excluded.

Per reddit, 442 came out with the top 100 epl players of all time and tim cahill made 86
Was in a London pub a few years back and Everton were on and one Everton fan with his London friends was told how Everton haven't had an effective player for years until someone asked who that little guy was called. Of course, it was about Cahill. His goal highlights really show how clinical he was for the era. I think Cahill's loyalty to Everton and in the interest of balancing the list are factors.

Might someone have the link?

Funny how someone like Bos starting for Feyenoord is just normal now. A bit like how Burgess is a true mainstay. I still remember the thread about 4 years ago asking why Burgess/ Jones and maybe Jack Iredale hadn't been considered. They al came along in their own ways.

List kinda redundant for Carragher to be on it. Vidic way too far down when VVD is up so high. I get Cantona's cult status but that's way too high. A goal nearly every second game I suppose. Rio was decent but was an error prone, slipping, moaning player when he didn't get his way.
