Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

Como, Italy: Marco Tilio's outstanding preseason form was rewarded with a start for Celtic in their Como Cup match against highly fancied Al Ahli. Everything good Celtic did was orchestrated by the wee man from down under. Brendan Rodgers was particularly impressed and was quoted "He's everything we need in a winger. You know its not easy for him to come to the other side of the world but I must say I was particularly impressed with his technical ability, his physicality and mentality. We'll certainly be looking to go into that market (A-league) again in the future as it seems to have a wealth of untapped talent." according to sources familiar with the matter. The plaudits didn't end there with thousands of Celtic fans voicing their praise for Tilio's performance on social media.

That's great news!

Well, that's nice to hear about Tilio but we've heard compliments before only to then not feature once the season starts.

Austria Vienna out on round 1 against a 3rd tier side. Geez!

I expect Rawley St John is in the St Pauli II side. No line up info.

Hi all - havent been on this group for a long time after being Spurs obsessed the last 2 yrs. Just logged back on and went through all the recent posts ... cannot believe how many young players we seem to have at decent European levels!

Whole bunch of guys ive never even heard of like Sapsford playing and scoring in European ties 👀

Really reminds me of circa 2000 when we similarly had a lot of young guys playing at good but not yet great levels.

Surely some of these high numbers will filter through to the top level like Bos has !

Exciting times ! Portsmouth have 5 Aussies FFS!!! Mental

Jay Rich-Baghuelou is a free agent having ended his time at Accrington Stanley. Good if fit.

Looking at the Portsmouth squad, it's quite raw at Championship level. One hopes there'll be a bunch to announce themselves in this tough league. The fear is they look vulnerable and one or two more experienced heads would be useful. I really hope it's the wild kids kill it vs too naive to survive.

Liam Chipperfield with 26 minutes off the bench and a yellow card for Sion in a 3-2 over FC Zurich in the Swiss Super League.

Aiden O'Neill with a full game for New York City FC in a 4-3 win in the MLS.

Patrick Yazbek with a full game for Nashville in a 0-1 loss to San Diego in the MLS

Full game for Connor Chapman for Gimpo in a 3-0 win over
Cheongju in K-2.

Joe Caletti an unused substitute for Tochigi City in a 0-1 loss to Tochigi SC in J-3.

Is there anywhere with a break down of all Aussies overseas by country
Until the end of 2024/25 season Soccerway did have such a list. I used it as a reliable source because it always seemed to be up-to-date.

However, Soccerway seems to have discontinued this listing and have replaced it with a search that is not overly intuitive or indeed, accurate.

I don't know now where any other listing, of the previous Soccerway type, can be found and I am relying on the updates provided here by other posters, X and DDavies, to whom many thanks and who I think may have been responsible for keeping the old Soccerway listing up-to- date.

Lets hope they get him to work more on the defensive part of his game. I've always thought he tends to go to sleep once an attack breaks down which holds him back from playing at a higher level. If he doesn't, I think he will only be a super sub when they need a goal to get back in the match.

Right you are Bruce. I have been updating Soccerway over the years and liaising with them over their recent changes. Suffice to say, a good resource that doesn't seem to be providing the same value. I maintain a monthly database of Aussies Abroad that I send to the FA and others, many people on here receive this as well. Happy to add anyone, just DM me. I also update transfermarkt, where I maintain a list of the Aussies Abroad. I believe there is functionality for "friends" to share lists on that platform. Also happy to do that. The more information out there that is easy to obtain, all the better!!

That was the best resource going around. I was so bummed when they essentially killed it off. I wonder if there is another way to track that info as comprehensively and concisely.
