There was hype but nowhere near the media exposure like Kuol and Arzani but perhaps they had the social media era behind them.
Oar had similar levels of hype to Arzani and Kuol.

Would be great if Devlin win's the title then gets picked for the WC. Wouldn't surprise if they subbed him early because they will want him as they try for a draw at Celtic. Sadly I expect Celtic to win the title and Devlin to miss the WC.

Devlin is the highest rated player in Scotland according to fotmob. And it isn't really close. He does play a pretty specific role for them.

Cam Devlin never adjudged best on ground by FotMob despite being in remarkable form for Hearts and being the highest rated player in the Scottish Premiership this year.

You can look him up on LinkedIn. He's an Account Exec in Sydney.

He became big news back in the days of limited youth prospects when we had very little coming through the pipeline. Only 4% of EFL academy products actually make it to top tier football. These clubs just churn through players looking for the next big thing.

I dare say a few a league clubs have much higher strike rates that English clubs.

Burns was good but I think he was older then those two wasn't he?
I think Burns was around 18 when he was becoming known. Kuol was the youngest.

Burns also had to contend with many GG players while Arzani was seen as the relief to years of dull players.

I don't remember any buzz as big as the Arzani buzz - not even Kuol.

I was lucky enough to be in Kazan when we played France and I remember saying to my wife when Arzani came on: "Phew! That means he's now locked in for Oz."

Such a shame when he snapped his ACL. I was watching the game on telly and he was having a blinder before collapsing for no apparent reason. He would've been a star at Celtic (was owned by Man City at the time) and the sky was the limit.

Deeply disappointed for him, and for us.

Maybe it was just fate but the Manchester City move made him something of a pawn. Celtic was a ridiculous idea and by then his injury frustration led to a bad attitude while in The Netherlands.

He was in demand after the world cup and should have sought a move to a club where signing his was a coup. He had to build up rather than go to the top where he then fell all the way back down.

Agree Celtic was the wrong move for him. Should've gone to a Euro technical league first.

Just shows the importance of mentality. Compare wirh circati who came back early from an acl because he put so much effort in

Too many players get mislead by the glitz of big club interest. Of course it begs the question whether such an offer will ever come up again but the big clubs can afford to control and discard the vast majority of players. You're just a number unless you're in the world's top 50.
