Not players as such but players in leagues. the NLS seem to like our defenders and midfielders. The MLS spend big money on their Designated Player in the attacking sense. They have some spectacular goals. But the GK, defense and midfield in general seems below par - I say I've seen better defence at NSW NPL level. this seems to be born out with how easily our defenders and midfielders can adapt and shine there. These likely US squad players all play in the MLS in those positions. three are likely starters in Freese. Ream and Robinson
| GK | Matt Freese | New York City FC |
| CB | Tim Ream | Charlotte FC |
| DF | Alex Freeman | Orlando City SC |
| MF | Cristian Roldan | Seattle Sounders |
| GK | Patrick Schulte | Columbus Crew |
| CB | Miles Robinson | FC Cincinnati |
| DF | Max Arfsten | Columbus Crew |
There weaknesses as per my US contacts are
Matt Freese Positioning errors under pressure; wrong-footed on shots/crosses; vulnerable to deceptive movements/penalties.
Tim Ream Slow to turn / declining agility (poor change-of-direction/quick pivots due to age); lacks burst to recover; exploitable with sharp feints/cuts or balls over the top.
Miles Robinson Clumsy clearances creating second chances; lingering post-injury mobility concerns (though recovery speed/agility largely regained).
They don't sound like elite players - though the US has some very good attackers playing OS.
Can you give a write up on out MLS defenders and midfielders and their adaption and maybe rate them alongside their US MLS counterparts.
