Something my team didn't get as kids was we thought every pass needed to be in direction of the goal. Coach told us we needed to thibk more steps ahead. I see this in my gaming too that I'll try and go direct with sprinting rather than the smart ball movement and short bursts.

If we watch games very carefully that's exactly how it's played. Players are rarely on the ball long.
