Deni Juric and Wisla Plock's Ekstraklasa game against Lech Poznan this week was postponed due to Lech Poznan's involvement in the Europa League playoffs.

Is foster only polarizing over his political views or are there some football views people disagree with
He doesn’t comment on football much anymore but he used to piss a lot of people off with his football views too, especially back in the days when he was on air on SBS on Sunday afternoons.

From watching that video I see he hasn’t lost his annoying habit of talking straight over the top of anyone else he’s on air with.

Did he have an ideological bent when it comes to football that annoyed people?

The only thing i remember about him is being passionate about the roos and wanting us to play attacking football regardless of the opponent

He said a fair few disparaging things about the style of Scottish football which wound some people up the wrong way.

The Postecoglou interview. But these days I think people don't like him for his political views.
Yeah, and the rant against Pim after the loss to Germany. I used to rate Foster but had a big rethink after watching him provide half-time analysis and predictions of EPL matches. You probably would have done better tossing a coin in the air. He's very articulate but I came to the conclusion that masked deficiencies in other areas. I think someone on here once said that Foster had subsequently taken some coaching classes so maybe his analysis capabilities have improved.

He leaned in heavily to the Barca side under Pep. The beautiful game being winning football etc etc.

Slater despises him, I think from their national team days. There was the spat over Jim Magilton being appointed to coach MV. I think he and Slater were mates? Foster said a lower league British manager offered nothing for MV or Aus football. Slater said something about his father being British and this was racist. Foster talked about the rationale, Slater played the man and brought up something about Foster being arrested. Top quality Aus football drama. Foster ended up being right. Magilton was a clown show who didn't manage again (I guess Slater could also be correct, Foster could technically hate white people and also be right about Magilton?)

I broadly don't mind his takes with the occasional idiocy. His book is pretty good. But he aligns with me football wise (Ange, Bielsa, Pep etc). His best work was some of TWG stuff. I remember discussions with Luke Casserly about the pathways for young players, a segment from when he was coaching NSW underage rep side, him slamming the FA about the lack of process and structure with expansion teams.

The big problem is not the message, but him. Whether intentional or not, there is an air of superiority he conveys in how he presents.

This was early on for Foster and Ange. Foster only caring about results is funny because the accusation is that he only care about style and not results. He and Ange are from the same page football wise, and you can see this in the recent interview they have done together when Ange was a Celtic.

Anglo-Celtic-Saxon accuses fellow Anglo-Celtic-Saxon of being racist to Anglo-Celtic-Saxons?

In saying that, they’ve got beef because of politics. This is also why Redditors hate all of his takes and will discard he writes as soon they know he wrote it.

I miss the old Fozzie, he had strong views on where Australian football should be going when it came down to player and coaching development if anything we don’t have anything close to this sort of discourse in today’s media where they try to be not critical or lack the detail to break an issue down properly.

That’s what is missing in today’s era is a show like TWG, I can’t imagine the things they will be saying in today’s era from all things aus football imo.

Love this comment on Round Ball Australia's youtube discussion of Irankunda at Sporting:

I like Foster's passion for Oz football and how the game should be played - that's all fine. And most of his political views I probably agree with also, being on the progressive side of politics - but what I can't stand about him (and I've met him) is that somehow, everything he says and does is really all about him, his stature and profile.

It's possible I'm being unfair but... plenty agree with me, so he does manage to rub people the wrong way.

I think when Johnny Warren died Foz tried to carry his mantle. Yet he comes across differently. Warren was an utter Aussie football tragic, alongside Led Murray who were kind of like prophets in the wilderness. Whereas when Foz does it, it seems wrapped in a kind of Sydneybcorporate HR dept lecturing tone, that is a turn off when when you agree with him.

i'm a big fan of his critical analysis and passion for aus football (if only we had more), his belief in positive possession based football plus his humanitarian work is highly admirable.
but when he went bonkers about pim i almost cringed myself out of existence!
