Sydney vs Singapore rematch? Last season we got absolutely robbed by Lion City in that second leg (but in the first leg we were pretty shit).![]()
Tampines Rovers could face AFC Champions League Two reprieve over Công An Hà Nội fielding suspended players
Tampines Rovers' heavy loss to Công An Hà Nội in the first leg of their AFC Champions League Two round-of-16 clash could now be overturned.global.espn.com
Stefan Mauk one of two players fielded by CAHN in their 4-0 win over Tampines that should have been suspended for yellow card accumulation. How does this keep happening? If Macarthur can overturn their 2-0 deficit on Thursday they'd play the winner of this match which could become a lot more up in the air if the result is overturned.
Very good win by City!Well that was a good win
Macarthur in theory should be able to get the job done this season if they were to face Tampines Rovers in the quarterfinals given that they're without a head coach and have recently performed poorly in regional competition.Sydney vs Singapore rematch? I was disappointed in Mac.Macarthur defeated by Bangkok United 2-0 in their AFC Champions League Two round of 16 first leg game and take a 2-0 deficit going into the return leg in Campbelltown next week.
I think in the past 3 years we have seen ALM teams take Asia comps more serious, Prob due to the AFC restructure of funds to clubs in the preliminary rounds. I know the ALM clubs are doing it very tough financially and have done since the inception but its good to see Aussie clubs wanting to achieve something in Asia then treat it as a pre season friendly.I'm really loving this year's ACL campaign.
I prefer ACL games to AL matches.
I love seeing how AL teams go against other Asian leagues, who I usually don't know much about. Particularly when the AL teams are full of domestic Aussies, not journeymen imports.
Mac have had the oldest team throughout and have struggled against sometimes modest opponents, even bankok are easier than any of city's acl opponentsDespite being hot
I was disappointed in Mac.
The heat (31 degrees) and humidity ( 70% ) was high, but I'm disappointed that a Thai team other than Burinam, was too good for Mac. Mac beat the other Aus AL ACL rep, Melb City, 6-2 in the AL a few games back.
I'd have to admit though that Bangkok were the better team. So often when Mac had the ball, Bangkok was able to Squeeze Mac players and condense their time and space on it. It appeared to occur more than the inverse. Bangkok generally had more time on the ball.
Bangkok defended better as a team unit, and particularly in the transitions, or what I call counter attacks or accelerated attacks.
I was also disappointed in the starting Mac wingers, Ikon, and the Serbian national. Ikon's career has been disappointing after his quality 2019 Asian Cup performance. Duke and the big guy were better as central strikers.
I think Sterj has quality youth, Deli, Bosnak, Vickery et al, but plays them less than some other coaches.
I reckon Phil Moss is the best game analyst around! Not often a network gets a former pro AL coach as a game analyst.
I think Talbot is improving this season, as is the Mac LB (?).
A Sydney team vs a Singapore team from a forfeited ACL2 match? I’ve played these games before!Cong An Hanoi now with a 3-0 deficit going into their AFC Champions League Two second leg game after forfeiting their first leg to Tampines Rovers for fielding Stefan Mauk and China, who were meant to be serving suspensions and as such were ineligible to play. They've also been fined $2,000 US and forfeited half of their participation fee in addition to being given the 3-0 loss.
