Best time-frame I can put forward is definitely pre 70s.

Possibly post 1956 Olympics, but could also very well be a GK shirt

Just looking closely at the fabric weave I would say 80’s or later, maybe late 70’s but not earlier than that.

My completely uniformed guess is that it may be from an unofficial team (by that I mean, not part of Australian Soccer Federation or whatever the name of the ruling body at the time), like a schoolboys team.

There is a Facebook group called Australian Football History, you could post the photo in that and see if anyone has any ideas. It is a pretty active group so there may be someone there who knows.

Thx I'll do that

Damn a school boys team isn't as impressive as a old Australian National team shirt

At first my initial thought is that it's an ODI cricket shirt however the red logo is the weird part. You never see the the Australia coat of arms on a red shield for any national teams. Also weird that there is no other design elements or branding logos. It's possible it's some sort of staff shirt used during an event.

Looks like synthetic material. I'm not totally sure but very old shirts like pre 70''s may have been 100% cotton & would have faded alot perhaps. The collar looks very synthetic suggesting maybe just a bad cheap south asian factory knock off. Don't see any brand logo, does it have a label inside the colour? Has there ever been an official socceroos badge red like that. ? I'm just speculating,

Doesn't look that ancient to me, 25 years at most. No idea what sport, could be lacrosse for all I know haha.

Yeah, come to think of it, even the red GK shirts of the 80s still had the same green shield as the outfield.

It's definitely not a cricket shirt - the coat of arms on that is slightly different than the usual.

The only place I can find the emu tucked behind the shield like that is on a 50 cent piece.

When you zoom in, the emu looks a lot less professional than I would expect on a national jersey.

IMO, and I have a lot of vintage football strips, that is not a vintage football strip. Some recentish knock off for some reason. Material, cut logo etc says it all
