Alen Stajic speech on Australian football

Im sure you can tell the difference between 'you' the individual, and 'YOU' the other side (in this case) in the context it was written! Hence the 'US', no?

No I did not realize “YOU” in caps locks means the mysterious “other side” and not me personally. So who is this plural “YOU”? Frank Lowy and the FA board circa 2004/5? The APL? Everyone except NPL/Champiosnhip supporters?

I think it can't connect more than losing its way.

Sadly her own worst enemy but yep right up there with the best on the W side of the ledger.
Makes you wonder why again I'll say the connect - why isn't the W game growing at Pro level.

yep and we want more - common outlook followers of all their NT's.

low punch mate but they got more stars than most :)

No doubt he said how it is - about time someone did, wish it occurred long before.
I agree the A-League has problems with connection, but as crowds shows, it's the best we have & much better than what we previously had which really struggled for connection.

I love Sam Kerr, like I loved Shane Warne for what they did on the field not their off-field indiscretions.

Of course we all want more, the only difference is I believe Aussies have never played 'jogo Bonita' you think the GG did, I didn't see it.

Much love LFC.

Would you be able to tell me which clubs you think are rivals becuase of border disputes or what side of WW2 they palyed for. ANYWHERE in Australia... its all pretty new to me.
A couple of posts earlier you told me 99% of clubs had this, maybe goggle will help you find one of those 99% of clubs.

That's where I get confused. Like I understand their perspective but it doesn't leave any realistic alternatives
Exactly!!!!

We all admit the A-League is struggling, but what is the alternative, as Staejic said lets get together & stop bagging what we have & make it better. If the alternative is the traditional clubs that failed miserably during the NSL, well ummmm.

Get together how exactly? Bc the consenus when it comes from AL ppl remains one, that for the good of the game WE just give it all up and embrace your side and support it so it doesnt fail, quite ironic and a bit hypocritical isnt it given all the history?.. no other solution is ever floated or realistically raised. How is that making the game better in any way exactly? The exclusionist mentality you all ignore needs to be addressed if we are to ever get our house in order as a sport first and foremost, and unless it is this wiill continue on same path! You want unity its paramount that it appeases both sides otherwise it never will work.

Wouldnt it have been better for unity if the AL had the foresight to put all its 'experience' to help with the championship instead of again looking to kill.it off in every way possible? Or are you naive enough to tell me it didnt?

With all senserity can you tell me that all the AL problems would be fixed if Hellas etc no longer existed and does that fix the issues in our sport? Will that scenario mean that I and others then suddenly become an AL person and our code miraculously flourishes bc the weight holding it back was always those traditional clubs? All it does is kill of the sport quicker and any logical.peraon knows it!

in reality, perhaps the finger for your issues is better pointed at that pipedream of some mainstream Messiah you guys seem to still maintain such a hard on for?

From our perspective we always did and still do more for the game in this country than anyone.else, bc we are grass roots up!

Finally can someone legitimately answer: outside of p&r what would be my and others incentive to ever go to AL? Is it bc you tell me i need to move on feom the past? Will that get me into a seat pr will the desire to be able to be promoted to it? Without that, why wouldnt i just go to the AFL where im guaranteed to get a superior entertainment experience, i have the same non vested interests in both?

Can you tell me 'ALL those traditional clubs that failed miserably' as you stated during the NSL??? My recollection is of atleast 2 that ticked all the boxes (one numerous times) set but still didnt get in to your self proclaimed exclusive superior AL!

I pose that legitimately so lets get some actual answers/thoughts!

Well said, Robbos!

Listen, I don't run the football in this country, I am only in agreeance with Stejic that we should unite & be one & appreciate what we have, how that is done is beyond my little brain & possibly anyone in this country involved in football, in the 50 years I have followed this great sport in this country no-one has been able to unite the tribes. We are both football fans & you don't follow the A-League & I didn't follow the NSL & I'm an ethnic. We have already discussed this.
You seem to blame the A-League & I do too, the admin of the A-League is no better than the admin of the NSL.

Now you like Mono in every discussion brings it all back to Hellas, tell you the truth, I could not give 2 hoots about Hellas, I'm interested in football in this country & it's far bigger than 1 club. If Hellas were in the top tier of football in this country great, if not great too. Stopping playing the victim.

Gosh this thread makes depressing reading. Like how things were 20 years ago. I guess these conversations are going to get heated and have to happen.....
Don't confuse "cathartic" with "depressing"... Everyn ow and then a new "fan" of the sport comes along, gets enthused with the hype of the Aleague message and decides to have a go at defending the kingdom against the evil foreigners... its frequency is becoming less and less, the hate and xenophobia is slowly dying... there is hope.

I was personally responsible?
Your mate Mono disagrees with you, he’s said multiple times he wants South playing in the A-League at the highest level like most fans of football teams around the world. Anyway, you’re entitled to your opinion like everyone is.
....ummmm Im not sure if I have to repeat myself AGAIN but please don;t put words in my mouth.

I want South playing at the highest level ON MERIT and never said anything abiout that level being the "Aleague"

On this one point I can answer (from my own, and obviously therefore enlightened, perspective).

It is twofold.

In the first place, to be included would mean the aleagues had changed the perspective on your team that caused you to be excluded in the first place. It would mean that the league saw you as a legitimate Australian football club and wanted you to be a part of the league.

Secondly, you play in the Australia Cup. There is a sporting reason for that and an identity reason for it. The top of any competition is where you want to be. You get the chance to compete and prove your worth against any comers - including most of the aleagues teams. It would be no different whatever the competition was called. Your club, like any other club, wants its identity, its community and its team to be as prominent as it can be and challenging for whatever titles are on offer.

It is not the aleague that is the problem here - it is the mindset that excluded you and all the ethnic community identities from it in the first place. It is not you being asked to move on from the past - it is the administrators of the aleague that will have moved on from the past to invite and accept you in.

Simples ;)

A while back I'd say you would have been silly to knock back that opportunity if it had been presented to you however with the administrative and financial idiocy of the APL, especially with their now ridiculous stunt to split from the FA, I would say to any non-franchise entity ( i.e a current standalone football club ) to tread very carefully before joining. That ship is very creaky.

A couple of posts earlier you told me 99% of clubs had this, maybe goggle will help you find one of those 99% of clubs.
IS it a state of origin NSW v QLD thing?... Im seriously confused why you would think one club in suburban Melbourne would have a border dispute with another suburban club in Melbourne... There is no such thing as exclusive economic borders min football, thats a bullshit franchise thing were the marketing company tells you what team to support in your league....
