Football participation has awlays been highest but for some odd reason there is a fine line between playing yuorself then going off to the ground to watch. As a kid who played RL, we were hyped to go see the big boys later that night or on Sunday.

I see it now with girls too who love to go to the NRLW games if possible around their own game. Do football playing kids and families just want to do other stuff on the weekend?

Some people suggest that parents are letting Aussie rules and rugby kids play soccer or touch just cause they don’t want them playing tackle footy at a young age.

This is a key point you're right. They need to make the games feel special or community based it does feel like you're watching a random park game

Especially since people watch the national teams at major tournaments.
