AA Bolter this season ?

So Younis returning to Brondby (a big club) after a good A league loan stint, and now starting in their ooening friendly got my thinking he could be the Aussies Abroad bolter this season and force his way into the Socceroos AC squad.

Just hearing now about Luka Smyth whose scored 7 in 12 at VPS in Finland and now probably moving to Maritimo in Portugal. Could also force selectikn ahead of Yengi if he gets reg minutes.

Who do you think will be the AA bolter this season?

I also went for Marcus Younis but Garang Kuol is definitely a good shout to be one of the bolters for Aussies abroad in season 2026-27, as is Daniel Bennie if he manages to get consistent game time.

Seems quite settled finally at his new club, the coach slowly worked him into the team last season. Big historic club too, playing in europe

Bolters:

Kasey Bos is in a position of need with Jordy Bos's injury and has a better pathway to gametime at Excelsior.

Daniel Bennie was in the initial World Cup squad so has to be on the radar.

Kealey Adamson if he gets game time may be an option at RWB.

Dan Hall at a good level in J1 and we often select 6 CBs.

Should be bolters - will get overlooked:

Robertson and Sapsford

He definitely has the potential to make it overseas but he hasn't been able to prove himself outside of the A-League Men yet.

Not sure if he's a bolter, but it has to be Alex Robertson, I suspect he'll have one of the best seasons of all AA. A good season from him could catapult him into the Premier League, pretty fast.

What I like about Eli is he seems to have a lot of time in the A-League, if he can replicate that at the next level, he could be good for Socceroos.

Be great if some of these step up, we need a little more depth.

Like everyone else hoping for Robertson to kick on, this type of player is something we are crying out for.

1. Jaylan Pearman, whether on loan or at QPR.
2. Daniel Bennie but not sure if he counts as a bolter.
3. Archie Goodwin will thrive with the wingers/mids Charlotte are signing.
4. Keen to see RBR in his second season.

I don’t think Brondby used wingers last season but they have a new coach, so it will be interesting to see how Younis goes. Fingers crossed.

I don’t know exactly what counts as a bolter, but I haven’t seen Cameron Peupion mentioned yet, but I think he could play 25+ games in the Erdivisie this year, which puts him in the frame for the Socceroos squad.

Agree with most of these. "Bolter" is probably not a term used for goalkeepers, but as something a little different, perhaps we will see a bolter (defined as a new name discussed for the national team!!) amongst the keeping stocks - Jacob Chapman.

Mat Ryan could well retire from international football post the Asian Cup. Not sure that Izzo is cemented going forward. Obviously we have Pat Beach in the national set-up now.

This time last year we were talking about the likes of Gauci, Bilokapic, Maynard-Brewer, Steven Hall, Anthony Pavlesic and Tom Glover. As a collective, none of those guys have really advanced their case for various reasons.

Jacob Chapman played 20 odd games for Huddersfield in the Championship two seasons ago. Had a successful loan to a League Two club last season that has seen him earn he a move to St.Mirren. Their first choice keeper was on loan from Wycombe, and has returned there. If he can get the gig as first team keeper and starts the season well, could be a shout? He is 25. He was our reserve keeper at the U23 Asian Cup in 2022.

Harrison Devenish-Meares has come into conversations after two solid seasons at Sydney, following many years in the lower leagues of Romania. He is 29. Ashley Maynard-Brewer is 26. Showed a fair bit at Charlton before dropping out of the squad and moving to Scotland on a short-term deal. Was reasonable at Dundee United before injuring his shoulder and subsequently getting released.
