Laini Freier is retiring from all football at the conclusion of the NPLW Queensland season and will step away from the game ahead of season 2025-26 to pursue a career outside of football. She scored seven goals in nine games at Brisbane Roar throughout season 2024-25, including back to back hat-tricks, playing alongside twin sister Sharn and made her Matildas debut during the SheBelieves Cup in February of this year.

She is pretty young, isn't she?
 
Wolfsburg wasted her. She's an amazing player but never got her chance. Hope she goes to a smaller European club to give her game time first.
Doubt that's the case since Sharn cited personal reasons for wanting out but both her and the club are going to reassess the situation together, most likely at season's end and she may well get a move to a smaller European side.

Matildas midfielder Sarah Hunter has returned to Sydney FC on a one-year contract for season 2025-26 after being delisted by Paris FC, where she spent the past two seasons. She has been training with the Sky Blues for the past three weeks and is eligible to make her return for them in their season opener at home against Melbourne City.
