A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 19

Dylan Scicluna is a really good player I get the Socceroos bolter discussion calls because I see that potential.

But he should play as a No.8 not a single pivot under the WSW's system, because he has plenty to offer when he plays in a more advanced role that was a quality assist by the way for the 4th WSW's goal.
Really shining on the ball the last two weeks

A bit quiet defensively but thats probably macarthurs fault

After watching Melbourne City and Macarthur, I am coming around to the conclusion that neither Behich nor Duke should make the Socceroos. They have been ineffective for a couple of rounds and we need to get the next generation NT game time. I am willing to compromise my belief that JBos plays LW and Farrel LWB.

You only just came to this conclusion?
Well our depth at LWB, LW and striker is not great. So I figured that Behich and Duke bring experience to the team and although no longer at their peak, they could still contribute. But their recent performances tell me that their levels have now dropped further. Farrel is back from injury and continues to make his presence felt. The young strikers are starting to produce as well. Which kind of supersedes Duke's experience and off the ball work rate.

He wasn't on my radar before but he is now. Hat-tip to AussieScout for that.

Have the Jets lost their attacking spark in the last couple of games? They didn't create many chances in this game I thought CCM defended quite well but the Jets didn't look as smooth they normally looked for most of the season.

However the disallowed goal looked a bit harsh, I understand the context but still.
Jets better in the first half but maybe CCM shaded the second half. Jets looked less threatening after Adams was substituted, imo.

9,033 @ Gosford.
Was probably a few more in reality, heaps of issues at the ticket gates. One of the group I was with had her ticket not work and was let through without scanning. Saw a few Mariners fans having the same issues with their tickets as well and just let through.

That said I thought it was a pretty poor turnout from the home side. Derby, nice day, family friendly time, both teams on a good streak. I do get struggling to feel invested when ownership is in such a limbo clusterfuck however. We’ve been there!

Here’s hoping a draw doesn’t turn off our recent bandwagoners for next weekend. A good win last night might convince a few Wanderers fans to make the trek up as well.

9000 was definitely a short call. That said it seemed to be the first time in ages that we have seen so many Jets fans. Two full bays plus many others. Good game and TBH I thought at the game there were dubious calls. After watching the replay the ref probably got every call just about right. He did let a bit go which I thought was dangerous for a derby but at the end of the day both teams seemed much more interested in football.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season as the heat moderates ( as yesterday) and the standard of play goes up. My only query is why did Milligan wind back? At the end none of Adams, Taylor or Rose were on the field. Seems to be a bit against his go for the win stragegy.

It was a strange call.

I thought with the Mariners having to use two of their sub windows in the first half that they’d tire out in the second and we’d push on and take advantage of that but we really took the foot off the accelerator.

Wellington v Sydney - shit oh dear, how can VAR overturn that penalty decision. Clear shove in the back. Clear free kick anywhere else on the park. The laws of the game go not discriminate on fouls inside or outside the penalty area.

Very poor refereeing.

I thought it was a penalty also, till I saw the replay, you would think he had been shot the way he went down. Needs milking training. As for the Jets, I think a wheel is getting wobbly, hope it doesn't fall off.

It was a derby and after the Jets 6 nil win last season and Mariners 3-2 win in the opening match of the season it was always going to be hard fought. The Jets did drop off in the second half and this Mariners team was smelling blood .Natta was great while Donachie and Tapp were steadfast for the Mariners.Ngor's pace enabled him to get behind the Novocastrians' defence on several occasions and he nearly set up a goal for Lavalle who couldn't quite stretch enough to get a foot to his wicked pass.A draw was a fair result.
