Any predictions for our 2030 World Cup squad or starting XI?

I think Toure will be replaced by Arena pretty quickly as this cycle goes on. I think Robertson will secure his spot into this lineup by Asian Cup 2027. Overy will advance into the lineup in a couple years as he secures minutes. Both Gianluca and Paul Jr will feature at the 2030 World Cup, I've got Paul starting just because I think it may be a bit too early for Gianluca but I believe Gianluca will be better. (Gianluca will be 21 by 2030 and could very well start if playing at a high level). McGree will be 31 and will probably be still able to compete in this squad, though, that isn't guaranteed. A lot of these players "Beach, Bos, Circati, Robertson, Irankunda and Volpato" will be in their primes and on-fire. Hot-take: I'm predicting the whole starting lineup will play in the top 5 leagues, with some off the bench also playing in top 5 leagues. We will see a renaissance in-terms of where our players play at.

We will be considered a dark-horse in 2030, not to win the World Cup but to make a deeper run and to cause serious damage. Our ceiling and floor will be determined by the coach we have.

I would not keep hyping AA up any more than he already has been, don't get me wrong he has excellent technical skills - but he is still quite some time away from making it at club and national team level. Let him concentrate on playing football

He didn't even get off the bench for Italy in the recent under 19's-euro championship match against Serbia, due to the strength italy has in attacking positions

I know italians hate it, but there are 3 really good players with african heritage in that generation: Idele (atalanta), Iddrissou (inter), Elimoghale (juventus) - iddrissou in particular already looks like a player that is destined to have a great career

Mosconi is also being talked about quite heavily as well, hes team mates with iddrissou at inter

in saying all that, italy still got knocked out in the group stages - even though they were favoured to top the group

Someone made a post showing all players called up since the 2022 World Cup (or 2023 Asian Cup?) in some thread - can we link in here, that might help give me a guide of some things to make a pick
 
Ahhh, I feel like the spoilsport every four years when this thread comes up.

In 2010 we were talking about Valeri, Vidosic, whether Holman would get better and if Kewell could last another four. Instead in 2014 we got a bunch of guys who had between 0-1 years in the Aleague like (off the top of my head) Ryan, Spiranovic, Leckie, Davidson, Taggart and Halloran.

Then we wondered how far Spiranovic might go and if Timmy could last another four, only to have Sains and Milligan as our next central defenders and Nabbout as our starting striker, plus Mooy as our star.

At the end of 2018 we talked about how good Rogic and Sainsbury would be in four years, but in 2022 McGree stepped up and Arnie found Souttar, Cumdog, Karacic, Boyle and made Mitch Duke a regular.

Four years ago by the time the WC finished in Qatar Jordy Bos had played 12 Aleague games, Irankunda 13, Beach 0, Circati had debuted in Serie B 3 months earlier, Italiano was in the fourth tier, Okon was 16 and I think Herrington was in year 9 at Churchie.

I guess what I’m saying is we have no idea, it’s way too early to predict and these will never be accurate. But fuck it, it’s part of the fun, so here’s a prediction for you - Marcus Neill will come good, some guy who’s currently 15 will start for us and Mat Ryan will still cost the Socceroos at a WC.

Like you said, it's fun and a source of optimism to predict. Not to mention, I think a lot us here had Circati, Irankunda, Bos, Volpato all in our 2026 World Cup squads in 2022/23. But we also had, Triantis, Nieuwenhof, Robertson, Kuol and Tilio etc.

I think in early 2023 I started putting Okon Jr in my 26' Squad and I had Younis a bit later in 2023 but that didn't come to fruition. This was just because I felt they were the strongest two players from the 2005 borns. I was one of the ones who wanted Irankunda in our 2022 squad, because I thought he was more impactful at 16 than Kuol at 18, I also wanted Bos, Circati and Volpato but the former two declined call-ups. I knew of Herrington from the 2022 Joey's squad and I didn't rate Italiano back then and really up until last year. Beach similarly, I didn't rate until as recently as the Turkiye game haha...

But yeah, there were major discussions about Volpato, Robertson, Bos, Irankunda and Circati from 2022 onwards. We've really followed these players for 5 years at this point, and we knew they would be here because they are different from the rest, their talent was undeniable and we have been proven right. I think we can predict pretty well what will happen in 2030, obviously there are outliers that arise and players who are too young but that makes it even more interesting to follow.
 
We’re possibly in a better position to make predictions because the last u20 team are starting to break through at club level and they will likely be the additions to the next squad - guys like Younis, Okon, Bennie, Caputo, Leonard, Pearman, hopefully Badolato, the centre back for Victory.

One thing for sure is that we’re about to hit a level of depth for the national team that we haven’t had before, especially in terms of Euro professionals getting regular gametime.

So from a depth point of view we’ll be better than ever, but like we’ve just seen at the WC, the Roos success will depend on who has that extra spark of brilliance in their game and who can take the step to the next level.
 
Shit - I have no idea who Poppa will pick for the Asian Cup next year - let alone 4 years from now.

Usually you're right to be the spoilsport. But there are a lot of locks this time due to how young the guys are. Assuming fitness.
