Probably 0 - He would see playing in the Asian Cup as on par with the Kanga CupWhat’s the bet we still don’t have Antichrist Vilepato playing for us at the Asian Cup?![]()

Reminds me of this Superwog skit:
Unfortunately I struggle to see any coach selecting Nisbet if he is still playing in the Dutch second tier. Balard too if he stays at his current club. After the World Cup (and some disappointing seletions) and assuming injury recovery this would be my next camp
GK: Ryan, Gauci, Hall
DEF: Bos, Farrell, Souttar, Circati, Herrington, Rowles, Matthews, Trewin, Miller, Italiano
MID: Balard, Devlin, Nisbet, Metcalfe, Robertson, McGree
ATT: Taylor, Kuol, Toure, Yengi, Goodwin, Irankunda, Adams
It is not a huge step forward toward 2030 but I think you need to have a more multi-modal squad that doesn't just defend. None of these selections are really out there and are really just the start towards the Asian Cup and 2030.

To paraphrase the great Joe Lolley, Sydney FC could win League One. Therefore the A-League is probably League One level. Therefore, the Eerste Divisie may actually be lower. We are picking players from the ALM for the World Cup. In reality the top of 10 of Dutch Division 2 is probably about on a par with the ALM - with the bottom lower than the ALM.
However, I doubt either will be at their current clubs next season. Same with Adams and Taylor
can't remember where/when I was discussing this in the past week - and I know it's not quality on the field that this links to, but we are 50th (out of the 70 listed) of highest revenue football leagues according to WikipediaTo paraphrase the great Joe Lolley, Sydney FC could win League One. Given when the Asian Cup takes place, it seems to be the end of the cycle rather than the WC. That squad looks nice, but it loses almost all experience. I think only 4 guys have more than 30 caps. I think this transition makes more sense for the first round of qualifying. After the World Cup (and some disappointing seletions) and assuming injury recovery this would be my next camp

Sorry - meant Football only - so once removing NFL, AFL, NRL, NBA, etc
How many of these did people want or expect to Behich, Leckie and Hrustic - they account for almost 200 caps and people weren't expecting them. The average at the World Cup will be around 27. Losing those three takes the average to less than 20.Given when the Asian Cup takes place, it seems to be the end of the cycle rather than the WC. This would be nice. Is Farrell looking to get out of WSW?After the World Cup (and some disappointing seletions) and assuming injury recovery this would be my next camp

Everyone is looking to get out. This would be nice. Is Farrell looking to get out of WSW?
Ah sweet - very smart from himEveryone is looking to get out.
Fortunately for Farrell he was just there on loan I believe.
We need a new coach first, I dont trust Popa moulding a exciting new squad of players with the ones we want to see. After the World Cup (and some disappointing seletions) and assuming injury recovery this would be my next camp

Sadly he'll probably still get a crack as Asia regardless of how we go at the WCWe need a new coach first, I dont trust Popa moulding a exciting new squad of players which the ones we want to see.
Personally I would go for Kevin Muscat or someone like Trevor Morgan who knows the young players well.
Yep I fear he's been given the reigns for the Asian Cup regardless of how we go at the World Cup.Sadly he'll probably still get a crack as Asia regardless of how we go at the WC

With the way its been going I suspect they will ask him to stay, given the story I read a couples of weeks ago about whether Popa stays or not it seems the FA want some stability after the World Cup.With his squad I suspect he is gone after MD3. I like what Muscat has done / is doing - but he tends to work with older players. Morgan or Montgomery would be my pick. Probably Morgan at this stage.
I think Popovic's contract is up for renewal after the World Cup. If we don't at least finish top 2 in our Group I would say he has under-performed. He had much better players available (even if he didn't pick them) than Arnie did in 2022. To perform worse is just not acceptable in what is an easier World Cup and probably the easiest group we have every had.
