2026 Australia Cup final rounds thread

Great to see another A League team knocked out. That’s 3 of them gone already. Great scenes at Edensor Park at the end of the penalty shootout. Congrats @Beretta .

Still recovering, and lost my voice lol.

That was up there with one of the best nights at Edensor.

3 A-league teams gone in round of 32, a new record?

South is next
I'm not confident about Adelaide next week. Truly hope I'm wrong. Our mid season signings have done well, but Retre and Juach need more time to get match fitness. We will take it up to Adelaide. Just need to get an early goal and then we'll have a fighting chance.

The NPL teams are showing that the gap to the A League is not that large as it used to be.

I think this is more on point.
Respect is another.
I think you have to look deeper. SFC play with a strong academy side that plays against NPL sides. CCM have traditionally played kids up a grade. E.g. academy side is in reality closer to an U20 side. U20 side more like an U18 side. That's how they develop kids when they play a few seasons together. Really more to do with the scale compared to SFC and WSW.

Maybe, or maybe A-League clubs should put more effort into the Australia Cup.
Oh I agree.

However both things can be right at the same time.

A-league sides should take the cup more seriously given its one of the key domestic trophies to win plus one of two ways into Asian football and the member feds automatically getting a home game when drawn against a-league opposition is Mikey mouse nonsense.

We no longer have the protected draw, the stupid Darwin playoff game and the NZ sides are no longer in competition. We are so close to a properly run cup competition. FA just need to make that last step.

understand patj, my comment was generally for all APL sides not CCM specifically for I know they do it their way compared to others.
Thats a side issue as well, each franchise works differently, each franchise are at different levels comp wise State to State.
Another issue at hand.
Question ? how many in last nights side were Snr's barring Redmayne ?

Certainly I think SU58 looked the better, more likely to score for most of the match. A couple of coast boys with a point to prove against the Mariners as well. I thought for a very young team (minus Redmayne and Roux) CCM looked hard to break down. They do need more going forward though. Lavale tried hard but had little support up front

If you lose to Olympic then we shoudl ALSO start the covnersation abiut pro/rel no?
IMO A-league clubs shouldn't try to stop Pro/Rel, in an ideal world we would have it.

However as the world stands now we don't have a division to promoted from and relegated to.

Until that is set up (hopefully Aus. champ becomes that) then its just pissing in the wind chat.

Great to see you attend local football
re, I try alot but dam busier than normal this current season.
Been to couple Apia ones but I keep low - I'll jump up and down once we stfu Glenardo's hoof ballers fingers crossed.

Best thing bout last night - was with a nephew, one son, the daughter and her boyfriend.
