2025 Hahn Australia Cup

For "team coefficient", who would we prefer to represent us in Asia: Heidelberg or Avondale? Which can sign better players? Which can handle all the travel? Which wants to keep working during their off-season 😅?

Heidelberg waaay out in front and still a chance to extend their lead this year. Avondale could leap a few spots if they get a result next match. Again, Victoria dominant. This is the clear top 12, then a fair drop off to many clubs. Almost looks like a killer second tier!

Well if one of them wins it and fingers crossed the AFC allows them to play ACL2, they’ll have nearly a whole year to prepare for it; maybe even get their affairs in order to the extent they can upgrade to fully-pro status💡🙏🏼

Agreed; this should be the final edition of it that the Nux and Auckland participate in.

There are associated Sunday-leagues such as the Victorian Churches Football Association and Melbourne Chinese Soccer Association that should be allowed a shot at AusCup qualification, or if not then at least their respective State Cup.

I wonder if the NZ clubs being in Aus Cup is locked into their licence until 2034. Would love some transparent answers.
 
I have an objection to the thought of a NZ team winning our Australia Cup - same as I do about them winning our national competition.

I am happy to have them in the league though because they bring something to the competition and if they lift the standard it forces us to follow - same as any club that has a dominant spell or a good supporter turnout.

From memory, as a new club in the league, Auckland FC were allowed to go over the salary cap to offset start up inertia. It gave them a chance to build a better squad to go with their coaching and football and it may have given them that early advantage to get where they are. That won't last when the cap brings them back level - and it will become more of a level playing field with other aleagues teams. If they play well enough then, they may still win it all.

For the Australia Cup - if we can't manage to get four Aussie teams in the semi finals out of all the clubs that participated then a NZ team deserves to be there. They add another dimension of opposition and challenge to the Cup - bringing in an element of the ANZ rivalry that is part of us being the better neighbours.

It is not like they are a football powerhouse we have brought in - we should be able to rely on two of our aleagues teams to knock them out at least.

I say let the aleagues teams compete in the Australia Cup. If we can knock them out we assert our football dominance as a nation - if we can't they will make us play better (or smarter) to knock them off.

For the future - who says an ANZ Cup is not on the cards for all Aussie or NZ clubs to participate in - if the AFC side of things can be worked with.
 
Yer nah RIMB but understand your outlook But its our nations Cup for our Clubs and the reason they are in it is because they couldn’t get more franchises in hence by default they are incl at the expense of the rest of our pyramid.
It is not an international Cup it’s a domestic Cup.

I think they can enter if they want to - I’m pretty sure there was a WA Churches League club in last year’s preliminary round.

News to me if so - and in any case I’m dead certain it hasn’t been the case in VIC to date. Hopefully not for much longer🙏🏼

Armadale Christian FC in Perth (Western Australian Churches FA) entered the preliminary rounds in 2024 - losing 2-0 to Alkimos (WA Amateur League Division 2).

I’d assume it would depend if the Churches Association is registered to Football Australia, rather than being an independent association, that would impact whether this is possible.

Given that Armadale runs a MiniRoos program, I dare say that the WACFA is affiliated with Football West/Football Australia in some official capacity.
