Apologies if slightly off topic , but the 76 nsw and vic state leagues for reference (the last year before the nsl started)..then 15-20 years ago you had clubs like Fawkner, Essendon royals, Frankston pines etc which were up the top..I wonder why vic soccer is particularly volatile in that way..aside from certain staple clubs like South Melb which have always been there or there about etc etc
Short answer is that when the "big clubs" returned from the NSL and fed back into the state leagues the previous dynamics changed somewhat... Fawkner (probably more to do with the Italian clubs cannibal corpse merry go round) ...
Richmond too, all goneskies..I don’t know about others, you get that same feeling about Avondale fitting into this category too in the next 10-20 years..maybe not, hopefully not

I think its just more natural attrition than anything else.. Clubs are more competitive down here or at least thats how it seems... Usually no Aleague academy sides in top flight NPL (this year exception.. and looking like Victory will be swapped out with Melbourne City for next year).
When a club like Bentleigh, who were a Australia Cup stalwart and top of the table in NPL for quite a while go down, they struggle to come back up immediately and, if they flounder for a few years, they end up in this constant loop of not being able to rise back up .. See Kingston, or Pasco Vale or Northcote City.... Only reason Preston rose back up again so rapidly was they spent the dollars and rallied the sponsors...
Avondale is a very strange club, tiny in scope but mighty in budget... I figure once the funding involved dries up so may they... who knows.? I have yet to meet an Avondale fan in the flesh. If Brusnwick or Bulleen see some success in the coming years or if some of the African Australian players who bring their family and friends along and make the majority of the famiglias's fanbase retire from football Avondale may well struggle.
Final call for the tipping comp. Cut-off at kick-off tonight.

Really hoping for the best for Darwin Olympic tonight. This might be the best chance ever to get their first result.
The NT league has probably never been better, but I still don't think they'll get much of a touch against VPL2.
NT have lost their last three Australia Cup matches 6-0!
I'm also interested to see how WA goes. They have a terrible record of just 2 wins and 20 losses at the Cup. Those wins only coming against Canberra and Northern NSW.

And 6 by half time haha. Geez I feel so badly for NT. The Nuns are certainly more well drilled and tactically astute. Feels like Darwin went all out attack with numbers forward from the start. They almost needed to park the bus to stand a chance and try running them out of legs. Blew it. But Victoria is the strongest fed, they bat so deep.
Assuming it meets minimum regulations they cant do jack shit, lots of teams do it. All part of having home ground advantage, they've won easily so im sure they will drop it.
