2025 Australia Cup final rounds thread

I think it was in everyone’s interest besides jets fans for Heidelberg to win that game.

I just think the ref was crap
Im not doubting that at all as i told @patjennings i fully agree that the standard is crap..... my point remains that a decision to appoint someone like that that makes those mistakes in the way it transpired it becomes harder to convince ppl like me that there isnt more too it... again not saying im right perhaps there is nothing more at play, hard to lose the well deserved stigma though which is there!

The atmosphere will be way better this Friday. Heidelberg fans are too passive. From the opposing end of the ground the jets fans were way louder.

In what way was clarendon grim? Pre game every pub and eatery was packed.
I think 3/4 of them wont step at another game unless they make another final, came outnof the woodwork...most of them had to step foot at a game since collingwood warriors i reckon... probs dont even remember the worlds simplest chant of a a eggs on toast. Haha

Im gonna say most of them went to the Katsouranis game so maybe a decade lol.

Lets not kid ourselves we may see the same thing on Friday lol

Seems to be a lot of conspiracy theorists down south, something in the water?

Im more in the Kersey being an ordinary ref camp rather than some anti npl conspiracy. I really hope Heidelberg move on from this and focus on the championship and dont repeat their over the top whinging like after the Dockerty cup final, club needs to show maturity here. We copped a raw deal in last years semi with the penalty awarded against us. Likewise our previous semi when Sydney jumped to an early 2-0 lead with both goals miles offside but it is what it is. I've watched an absolute stack of Heidelberg games this seasom, across the 40 odd they played they had a better run with the refs compared to most.

Haven't had a look at the final replay yet, as there was no FF and rewind on the Paramount coverage last night.

they should have been penalties but then it looked like Newcastle had one too.

On a side note, I went with a mate from overseas. We were surprised by how little some Heidelberg fans were getting into the game.

Blokes in front of us all in Heidelberg gear and they sat there talking with each other the whole game organising where they were going out after and hardly watched the game 😂

But yeah horrible ref.

Heidelberg had the chances

Also fucking hell Clarendon street is grim at night
Were you behind the bloke in the Western United jersey? He looked like the only one there interested in the football?

Congratulations to the Jets and their fans... it was a crcking game of football form a neutral persepctive.

I hope the Jets enjoyed our stadium and will have fond memories of lifting the cup there.

It was incredibly satisfying watching the mounia from Norflands march out of the stadium with their tails between their legs with 10 mins to go.... The "best coach outside the Aleague" with only a signle trophey to his name this year??? bahahahahaha And to be robbed by the refs made it even sweeter.... A- A Eggs on Toast.

It was enjoyable once the FT whistle went 😅. One day we’ll hoist a trophy at home but Lakeside a part of our history now.

I would definitely like to go back and watch a game there as a neutral so I could enjoy it and not be stressing for 120 minutes. Nice venue, pretty good atmosphere with the 1,500 or so (just guessing!) Jets fans that made their way down.

Hats off to all who made the journey... Good luck for the Aleague season ahead... AND Asia next year :)

Did they get robbed by the refs?

I think the first 10 mins they had a penalty shout and the ref seemed to favor the jets but if Heidelberg could get the ball in the net more then jets they would have won.

It's not like Korea vs Italy 2002 where goals got rubbed off

Eh, I thought the Bergers penalty shout should have been given and it would have changed the game a 2 nil buffer with them parking the bus would have meant a different outcome.. Both red cars were justified, Grozos in particular was lucky to still be on the pitch by that
stage... Like others have said, I dont think it was biased officiating, just poor overall.... The Bergers will be talking about how "we wuz wobbed" for decades... its gonna be fun reminding them :)

Regardless of ref decisions, I thought Jets were clearly the better side.

Their movement off the ball in possession to support the ball carrier was impressive.

The H player Sinodinus? who was a DM, Taswegian Fulton, and the two powerful H wingers, caused probs for Jets, but they mainly played on the break in accelerated attacks.

There were some classy, patient build ups from Jets, with some superb passing sequences. Some good youngsters too.

How did Talay not play Burgess at SFC?

Congrats to H beating 3 AL teams in succession.
