2025 Australia Cup final rounds thread

I will be in attendance, want the Jets to win even though their supporters have behaved like morons since Lakeside was announced as the venue. Ideally i'd like to support Heidelberg but if we were in there position they'd want us to lose, so i cant bring myself to it.

Fascinated to see how the atmosphere plays out despite the full house. I suspect 70-75% of the crowd dont support either team.
Strange people, for 70-75% not supporting either side. I don't know many countries where this would happen in a national cup final.

Surely Berg supporters would come out of the woodwork - any guess would be how many Jets supporters get on planes.

Jets announced this morning a free bus down and back for members. That’s a long day out!

SCHEDULE / TIMINGS:

Saturday 4 October, 4.30am Depart McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Saturday 4 October, 6.30pm Arrive Lakeside Stadium, Melbourne

Sunday 5 October, 2.30pm Return McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Bus departs from Lakeside Stadium for the return trip approximately 20 mins after full-time.

My respect to those that commit to it!

Yep thats a huge return haul + worse if its a loss hanging over you.
So direct to game - man o man, wonder IF a hotel group booking is arranged.

To be honest I don't think Ill even bother watching on TV mate.... I might catch the highlights if I remember. Not fussed either way who wins or loses.... Would be nice for Newcastle to finally get some silverware.

Sorry lads I cant do it.. I hate the AL and i wont hide it, there is absolutely no way in hell i would ever support any of its franchises winning anything over an NPL club, whether its bergers or preston or anyone, pure and simple!

I would rather have bergers with bragging rights and a trickle effect onto the rest of the football landscape than hear another AL dimwhit tell us how we dont belong and cant compete! Simple as that!

As a young lad I did an ill advised 42 day Contiki coach trip around Europe. After that I swore never to do a coach trip ever again. That schedule is PSTD'ing the fuck out of me.

Surprised hype is low considering this Australia cup can lift a league and championship which is weeks away from starting

That's an interesting issue. When watching the Asian Champions League, I'm happy to support any Australian team in the tournament because they're the Australian representative, even though 3 days later I might be booing them if they're playing Perth. I realise that's not how most football fans view things.

For the cup final... Honestly I'm kinda indifferent. If it was any A-League side other than Newcastle (or Perth obviously) I'd 100% be going for Heidelburg, but Newcastle have barely had any success in the last 20 years so I wouldn't be too upset if they win.
That said, I'm still leaning slightly towards hoping Heidelburg win.

It would ironic if Heidelburg have this magic cup run, knocking out 3 different A-League teams only to lose to Newcastle in the final.

Just landed in Melbourne, coffee already in hand. Will be replaced by beer soon enough, will need to calm the nerves. 25 years (including NSL) of supporting this club and just the 3rd time we’ll play for a trophy, hope we don’t let the opportunity pass us by. In Millsy we trust.
