2025/26 UEFA Champions League

PSG V BAYERN 👌
There is nothing like that standard in the Premier League just shows since Klopp the EPL has become boring those 2 teams this morning were outstanding, the level of skills and goals just 2 teams going for it shows how bad the English teams have fallen - Oh how I would love Klopp back at Anfield he was up there in terms of pure entertainment but that game today was just amazing to watch - bet ya tomorrows game will be 0-0 or 1-0 🫣

So why has the Premier League become so rubbish compared to the other big leagues of Europe?

I mean I don't think that there's much difference in quality across the board between La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue Un and the Premier League.

They're all pretty much equal in terms of quality from top to bottom.

Orcare you just basing your assertion on the top club in each of the major European leagues?

rubbish ? I would say gone into defensive mode and clubs have gone off the boil, worst this season and results prove as such in CL knock outs and blow out scores at that.
The last 10yrs City/LFC were cracking over or 90+ GF by last 4 odd games.
Top 3 right now in the 60+GF - huge drop in attack and goals scored.
Top 4 was more competitive even though City/LFC in front.
Chelsea gone backwoards - Toon used to fight up there and well, Spurs have spiralled once regulars top6.
It shows the drop in the EPL right now.
Bundas is not competitive BM is 15 in front and on 113 GF 31 games.
LLiga Barca are 11 in front and RM 9 in front of 3rd.
Barca have cracked 87 GF.
SerieA I won't even bother considering their worse failure in europe than the english clubs.
Notice I haven't bothered with L1 - for its PSG thats it.

Does this help at all.

Well it's not me saying rubbish but Kevin Keegan said....

"the EPL has become boring those 2 teams this morning were outstanding, the level of skills and goals just 2 teams going for it shows how bad the English teams have fallen...."

I don't think Premier League clubs have fallen at all there's not much between the top 5 leagues top to bottom in terms of quality and id also put the Portuguese league into a European Leagues elite top 6 competitions.

They're all pretty good leagues although I haven't seen much of the Portuguese teams outside of those in the Champions League and Europa League because they don't televise it internationally as much as the others.

There is a alot of diff quoting boring to rubbish.
KK said boring - and I agree its gone off the attacking boil and the goal stats back it up.
Also sometime back there was passing stats quoted that backs have got most pass counts - whereas sometime back it was midfielders and rightly so talking pro active productive attacking football.

again not rubbish :)
Rubbish I read it as utterly crap/you wouldn't even bother with - watching.
They have just fallen off the edge but no where at the bottom, bottom is rubbish.
Capish - well thats how see it.

Using rubbish is probably the wrong way to ask...

Should have used how 'bad'..

Ok Boring - Arsenal this season were sleepwalking to the title by playing like Stoke City, throw ins, set pieces, corners they are awful to watch and definitely boring yet no team capitalized on their mediocrity until they starting slipping a bit and City woke up
Man City - the exception to the rule they at least play entertaining football (pains me to say it)
Liverpool - hate to admit this but we have been boring for most of the season pass back, pass across the lines feed it to gakpo cut inside shoot repeat nowhere near the glory days of Klopp
Man Utd half the season they were mid table they are still learning how to set up and play, Chelsea another pass back boring team, lost their way totally. Villa dont exactly blow you away and then we are into the Brightons and Brentfords

Think back to the Klopp years Liverpool & City toe to toe, breathtaking football, players at the top of their game even Arsenal were playing well, Newcastle had something about them plus Spurs with Kane & Son were a joy to watch
To me the league has somehow become too safe nobody takes risks anymore, theres very little superstar players to watch its all so predictable and whilst I agree the Premier League is the most competitive league to watch in terms of each team can beat each team on any given day we are starved of quality high intensity exciting players.

Contrast that with PSG who are probably the best team in the world coached by arguably the best coach in the world with a team full of quality, Bayern Munich are a fantastic team to watch Olise, Kane Diaz etc Barcelona (Yamal) whilst a little short of where they were a few seasons ago still exciting to watch - yet City and Liverpool at their best a few years ago were arguably better then all of these teams on their day
anyway just my thoughts - football if anything is subjective

agree - yes shin first to me without reviewing replays.

Glad the LFC outlook got cleared, the heydays of way back then was immense and yep they were de best of the times.
Again KK71 was mainly talking about how Klopp played the game as epic viewing and great times.
LOL these greeks and their chest puffing mind you the few highs winning Euro was epic against the odds.......
Thanks for handball.

As for Liverpool, I know I like to bash Liverpool, only cause my mates deserve it.
But Liverpool under Klopp played some of the best football I've seen, tikka tak at speed, the first front 3 were awesome Salah, Mane & underrated Firmino, with Henderson & Milner just strangled other teams, those 2 fullbacks especially TAA were totally amazing add Virgil & Allison, great team.

Yes Football is subjective, the City & Liverpool team of a few years ago were both wonderful teams & much stronger than the current PL teams. In truth they only won 1 champions league each in that time.
However, this current PSG team in the last 2 years are the best team I have seen since the heyday of Barca & RM when Messi & Ronaldo were reigning supreme. The firepower that PSG has is immense, again not seen since MSN & BBC, Liverpool did not have a player like Vitinha, who is the man who controls everything that PSG does. Bayern also great team & in Michael Olise, probably the best player in the world are pushing PSG playing great football.

ah - the saying you can't win them all.....
In the end through that tenure they either made the Final win/lose, since 17/18 LFC 3 times - City 2 times.
The only constant as we know is RM - not a bad run by those 2 EPL clubs.
Subjective absolutely - I have not known one top team blazing a season or 2 without a top midfield and players like Vitinha for eg.....
Otherwise they wouldn't be dominating......
IMO the firepower City had was immense as was LFC's on their roll.
Same applies to any Team that rolls their league and does the Double with CL.
RM have won 2 more CL's post CR7.
Its all about having the complete squad that keeps clicking and has back up to injuries that they all have when in the zone.

Why put an emblem in the dead centre of a walkway then? It's idiotic.

Exactly, like it’s customary not to walk on it but it’s not the end of the world if you do. It’s a bit like an American tipping in Australia: I’ll accept the tip (extra money!) but it’s not necessary (in Japan and Korea they can’t accept them though).

typically people will make noise of it - only a Simeone will take the opportunity like he did even when he played, luvs getting inside opponents heads....
Passion is passion but others turn it around and make a big thing of it and wrong lol.......
I luv the guy - we need these types so its not like sitting in GP or hospital waiting rooms :)

As I mentioned, Football is subjective, City & Liverpool were very good teams, but as you said RM did win 2 CL after CR7 & that is one more than both Liverpool & City & that RM team was up to prime RM or Barca, nor was that RM team up there with PSG of today, this is what I'm saying.
The Barca side of Messi, Inesita & Xavi was the best footballing side I have ever seen, with the Real Madrid side of that same & later era, up alongside it in 2nd place. I also think now this PSG side has moved up the rung to lie 3rd, they are wonderful to watch .

Liverpool had 2 wonderful midfielders that move the ball very quickly to the front 3, the transition as I said earlier was Tikka tak on speed, & then in defence they were so fit they strangled other teams, but they were not creative midfielders in the Inesita, Modric & Vintitha style.
We are overdue for that coffee to discuss.
