2025–26 A-League Women — regular season matches

Loving the closeness of the league with only five points separating 1st from 9th albeit with slightly unequal games played.
Melbourne City aren’t a sure thing for the premiership but Sydney FC and the Wanderers are well off the pace and probably won’t make the finals.
Wanderers are basically no chance. Sydney at least have the squad. Wanderers are just shit.

On an unrelated note if Sydney don't win any of our next three games then I'm calling off finals. As of now we'll scrape finals.
I think Sydney FC have a tough run in their next three games with road games against Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory before the Sydney derby, and they may win the derby but I'd say at most they're only winning one or two of their next three given that Glory are still unbeaten at Sam Kerr Football Centre and Victory have won the last two editions of the Big Blue despite having not won a game at Home of the Matildas since November.

It is worth noting though that we're only losing by one or two goals a game, besides the shitshow against the Nix (which the club is yet to apologise for) where we had no Willa Pearson (not that she woulda made a huge difference to the score). Plus our best game all season was against the Glory.

Brissie vs Canberra tonight at 7:00pm. That's 6:00pm for all you Queenslanders.

I like Lincoln but she makes some dreadful errors
Look I'm a Sky Blue through and through but even I don't understand how she got in but Courtney Newbon hasn't. Not saying Chloe Lincoln's a bad keeper at all, but Courtney Newbon got the Golden Glove for a reason.

I'm really liking Heather Hinz too. Cool chick but also she's clearly one of the best in the league. How she didn't get a move elsewhere is surprising and if we keep her for a few seasons maybe she would consider Aussie citizenship to give us an extra visa spot.

I think Chloe Lincoln ended up getting a Matildas callup because she's progressed through the farm system and has both major tournament and big game experience for the Young Matildas and under-23s, whereas Courtney Newbon has no international experience altogether, and unfortunately even though Newbon is the better keeper, the Tillies selection policy will continue to prioritise Chloe Lincoln at least for the foreseeable future.

We were pretty keen on getting Kayla Morrison (though it appears that ship has sailed given FIFA are literally ignoring us) who's never played international football. It’s probably easier for her though given she A. was an A-League star at the time and is a club legend at Melbourne Victory, B. captains an A-League club (again, Victory) and C. isn't a goalie (she's a defender).

Point C is probably key too. We only need three goalkeepers at a time and it's very clear who our best three are. We have two backups though and could probably use a third just in case, but it's not imminent. Interestingly though Courtney Newbon would be the only current Tasmanian Matilda (and possibly the only Australian international on any level, men's and women's, senior and youth?), which shows that we need a Tasmanian A-League club to get talent from Tassie (which is albeit a small state).

Holly Caspers scores for Western Sydney Wanderers in the 35th minute of their game against Central Coast Mariners to put them 1-0 up in the first half, with Yuan Cong getting the assist.

Annalise Rasmussen scores the equaliser for Central Coast Mariners in the 41st minute and moves level with Holly McNamara in the Golden Boot race, having scored her ninth goal of the season. Avaani Prakash gets the assist and scores are now level at 1-1.
