2025–26 A-League Women — regular season matches

Looking grim as fuck for us. Can’t see us beating the Nix, Victory or Mariners when we couldn’t even beat the Jets.

Why are Sydney and Wanderers bottom of the league, do they not care about womens football?

Wanderers don’t, and they never have. Any decent talent there gets sold instantly, often to Sydney.

Sydney FC are the most successful team in the comp. We’re absolutely shitting the bed though and it’s insulting given the strength of our squad. Hopefully we improve over the last three games and then actually improve next season but I’m not confident, especially with the former. We need to win all three games to have any mathematical chance at making finals.

A lot changed after 2023–24 (when we last won the grand final and last won a trophy) with the Matildas being so popular and other clubs improved, but sadly we remained stagnant after losing players like Cortnee Vine. We also don’t have an NPLW team so we’re relying on players from other teams. It’s good to scout young talents and foreigners but we also need to develop our own players at the same time.

I’m guessing we’ll probably get a draw in our last three and lose the other two. We’d avoid the spoon in that scenario as Wanderers probably won’t get any more points, but it’s still extremely bad and the club should be in crisis.

Very poor form from both clubs given the wealth of resources at their disposal.
Because there is very little development of young players by FA it befalls the ALW to bring through the next generation of Matildas.

Sydney FC won't be able to get the job done against Wellington Phoenix in the return leg at home Friday especially without Willa Pearson and Riley Tanner, who both have to serve suspensions for too many yellow cards this week, but I think they have a chance against Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners.

Just a draw is all I want tbh. Can’t finish last. Go again next season and actually play good football. At one point this season we were first but damn we were boring.

Melbourne City and Adelaide United ended up with a scoreless draw in their A-League Women matchday 4 catch-up game. The result sees Melbourne City remain top of the ladder on 34 points, extending their lead to four points ahead of second-placed Adelaide United, who move to 30 points with their third draw of the season.

Holly McNamara apparently might be in the City Women squad for Sunday which is crazy cause the Matildas play on Saturday night.

It's going to be too little a turnaround between the final and Melbourne City's road game at Western Sydney Wanderers so I don't think Holly McNamara will be getting game time in the Dub until the last matchday of the home and away season as City have their AFC Women's Champions League quarterfinal at Home of the Matildas next week which also coincides with their bye week.
