    Matildas friendlies in June 2026

I think Van Egmond is a very good player for us when she and we are in control. In tight spaces as we bring the ball forward and are playing as a co-ordinated running group her passing is quality and incisive. Unfortunately, that only covers games against much lower quality teams and mere...

G&G 2026 FIFA World Cup Tipping - with added prizes! ✅

Fourth prize could be an undisclosed amount of money in a brown paper bag left by Decentric in a yet to be determined place and only on the proviso that you then donate said sum of money to G&G using the available methods.

...and incidentally, I was going to use ostriches instead of penguins, emus and kiwis for the comparison species - with the inherent human meaning of being an ostrich equally relevant. But this is Green and Gold so I passed on that opportunity. If anyone wants to write a political book they are...

I understand exactly what you are saying - although mechanically it only takes a small amount of unequal pressure at either tip to create significant imbalance in the whole. Heavy pressure would be total destabilisation. Which also fits with your point. It is also, quite coincidentally, the...

Some meaningless facts: The mighty albatross does not have two left wings or two right wings, but one of each; in balance. Despite the size of the wingspan, and the distance from the centre that each extreme wing tip sits, the central body still makes up the bulk of the albatross's mass...

When the emojis first came in I received an Angry one because the news I was delivering was the thing being disliked rather than me or my comment. It feels wrong to Like a bad news comment by way of thanking and encouraging the poster for their effort and passing it along. I took the Angry to...

    A-League transfer news/rumours

I can see Brazete working out well in a club like Adelaide United. They often include young players with a similar playing style to his - using his skills to play through and around rather than simply looking for an open pass every time. Would depend on how he lifts again since he got a bit...

    A-League transfer news/rumours

Roar Media Release: Brisbane Roar can today announce the departure of defender Matthew Dench with his contract at the club to conclude shortly. The 22-year-old joined the club ahead of the 2025/26 season after a successful trial period and made 12 appearances for Brisbane Roar, scoring...

But perhaps not so slow to react when you got in behind.

I had lost sight of Dimi Valkanis only being 20. Plenty of growth and development to come for him so I am less concerned about his current vulnerabilities.

The Orange Army. (Brisbane Roar Official Thread)

There was an element of unchecked aggression and petulance throughout the team that I would add Klein and Vrakas to as well. No professional restraint to channel the aggression into the play as 'hard football' and it had a negative impact on our play. That comes from the coach setting the...

Freke did a good job for us when we needed him. Not good enough to keep his place because of Bouzanis' long passing game I think but made a lot of good saves. I agree on Hore being used ineffectively. I think Valkanis had the idea of Long and Hore being mutually constructive as a team, but when...

Maieroni was tried in a few positions, and ended up looking decent in DM - but he was not a patch on Stajic really. Stajic was able to break up play and was a solid link bringing the ball forward. A real defensive mid. Having been without a dedicated DM for several seasons it felt bloody good...

Perhaps it is indeed a ton of red herrings :). But it is no coincidence that losing Herrington then Milorad Stajic (we've got to be made of Milo) marked a very clear change from defensive capability to vulnerability. We did not have the goal scoring of the Jets to offset our defensive frailty.

    Phone addiction

I heard a snippet on the social media ban 'report' show that was on tonight. Couldn't stand to hear teenagers talking like their opinions matter (yes, I am old and narrow minded) but they complained that they needed social media to stay in contact with their friends. And I had to wonder how...

I am in two minds with Valkanis. He has a lot of reasons for the lack of on-field success, which most would probably call excuses. I am a bit more inclined to think that we lost the season because we sold our fantastic centreback and our squad was not deep enough to cover the run of unlucky...
