Sign Up Now!Can't remember the last time I've seen a caretaker coach start like thisIf we hold on Griffiths has to get the job tomorrow lol
Ridiculous.Going to be about 38 degrees for the Jets v City game in Newy on Saturday, bloody hot in the stands, let alone playing soccer in it
When they went to Vietnam they got gastro. So ACL2 and illnesses.Much better second half for Victory with Velupillay coming on around 60 minutes.
Gave Victory just a bit more forward focus. Unfortunately (in my eyes) at the same time as Velupillay coming on, Jelacic went off. He had been one of the better players in the first half with a few very nice touches. I would have seen Jelacic in behind Velupillay as a good option with their skills being compatible.
Victory's attacking capability was summed up perfectly in one moment later in the second half. Santos got the ball just outside the corner of the penalty box and drove infield. When he got a line on goal, Velupillay saw that he was blocking the shot and ran out of the way. Santos then rolled the ball towards where Velupillay was getting out of the way with his back turned. Pfffft.
Some moments for both teams, and some players like Talbot for Macarthur putting in a really good shift but just not enough at the pointy end for either.
Harry Sawyer for Macarthur works hard to get into positions and the ball doesn't come. When it does come he is often heading elsewhere unless it is a simple high ball in from a corner.
0-0 an appropriate scoreline given the lack of quality being shown on the day. Victory look to me like the team more likely of the two to snap out of it.
One relevant thing from the commentators though - Macarthur had a flu bug run through the club this week and some still getting over it. That on top of playing ACL2. Not making excuses since I don't give a stuff about them, but relevant to the poor form.
The commentators mentioned that - and that they had then got a dose of the flu through the club straight after it. Only a flesh wound! When they went to Vietnam they got gastro. So ACL2 and illnesses.
An hour before kick off and it is 31 Celsius. Not too bad, and too low for the drinks breaks.Going to be about 38 degrees for the Jets v City game in Newy on Saturday, bloody hot in the stands, let alone playing soccer in it
Totally agree, it also killed the game, big match like this and to lose a player with a very soft red was bullshit. Look I’m a Nix support with all without a player missing we still might have lost but the unfair red really killed it for us.I thought the red card in the Auckland v Nix game was the wrong call.
Free kick fine - but Cosgrove was already dropping before any contact and to me that should rule out the red card. It was clear and obvious that Cosgrove was not attempting to play the ball - just playing for the foul - so that should mean it was not denying an attacking opportunity.
I don't care what the laws say technically about it - no goal scoring opportunity was denied in that play.
