It took 18 seasons to better the overseas player transfer record mate... And not having any money has forced franchises to play youth...

If you can both, with a straight face, tell me that we have experienced a 20 year improvement compared to some of our regional rivals I will rest my case.

You, of all people, should acknowledge its better to rip the bandaid off and criticise inadequacies rather than just saying "yay everything is awesome"...
 
Guys, just flashing the sheriff's badge for a moment here...

We fully encourage robust debate on this forum and recognise that a topic like this can inflame the passions of those (most of us) with strong opinions. I would hope that, no matter how strong an opinion, all of us are adult enough to learn from others and thus have our own opinions - if not changed - then at least informed by other perspectives.

Australian football is complex with too many powerbases/empires and not enough money (or resolve to compromise) to make it work. This very forum is a reflection of that.

That said, there have been posts in this thread getting dangerously close to actionable. We don't like to delete posts and we don't like to ban people so we tolerate a lot. However, we don't like racism and we don't like personal insults that go beyond the tasteful bounds of banter.

We especially don't like these things when they contribute to derailing the thread or amount to trolling.

Happy to watch this 'debate' from the sidelines. Too many rude words and slurs being slung about for mine.
 
This could be the new Western United thread. A lot of it is quite funny, some nasty. Anyway, there could be more changes coming for the A league, with reports that PFA and the players want a NRL/AFL independent commision running the show. Don't know if the money men would take too kindly being stripped of power. Carry on.

Funny part to all this is no one has ever claimed it was better though, you guys keep harping at that...
The reality is you are seeing the smae trejectory, decline and whinging as the end of the NSL... One key difference that comp was open for teams to enter and dared to take risks! Whats your claim to fame exactly?

And careful thats a matter of interpretation.. for instance did the NSL bring in better foreign players hands down and in their prime not at retirees, No??

Paid off those debts to the FA there you super comp or not yet?........ you know what the biggest observation and difference between us is? For us there is one truth, the be all and end all was ALWAYS our teams, that drove everything we supoorted them not cared about the league, You all have proven the opposite, you are all AL supoorters first and club later as you keep showing! I guess thats a real byproduct of Mcfranchises. We will always be HELLAS or Marconi or Syd Utd first and above all, call us what you like for it, but its why you will never have a soul..
